The Brit
as so many people seem to be falling over themselves to criticise jose and chelsea's display last night I wondered if people had the choice, who would they prefer, jose or benitez in charge...there were some chelsea fans on chelsea tv last night suggesting benitez was the better manager and had jose's number, which quite amusingly had tommy langley getting red faced and swearing under his breath...so, what say you? Jose may have made some mistakes but I pick him every time.
midlandblue
not only would I chose Jose over benitez, but I would chose him over any other manager. he's the best in the business, simple as that.
midlandblue
oh, I forgot just in case it wasn't obvious.
Lofty
Jose every time. I think Jose got it massively wrong last night. But having said that, if Benitez was such a great manager, he'd have his team challenging for the league title. Something that's never looked like even the vaguest possibility. g3.7
it's not like one is useless and other is god, both very, very good in their own ways. I feel, and have always felt jose is a more short term manager, like capello, whereas benitez is more a mid to long term man. both defensively based, there isn't a massive amount between them. I do think though, that had benitez been appointed our manager back in the summer of 2004, we would have still had success.
Elliott
If people think that the style of football Chelsea play under Mourinho is boring, then Benitez goes one step further. Take last night as an example. Liverpool were the home team. Rafa played two wingers that doubled up as full backs, and he always prefers to plump for two defensive minded midfielders in the middle if he can. So you have: ..................................Reina.................................. Finnan...............Carrragher......Agger...........Arbeloa Gerrard/Pennant........................................Zenden.. .......................X.Alonso......Mascherano.................. ..................................Kuyt................................... ................................Crouch................................... Supposedly Roman is after entertainment? This aint it. And people call US Boring....Mechanical....'Robot' like..... I would rather slit my wrists. yorkleyblue
It's an oxymoron (I think!) I'd rather have Pardew or Curbishley than Benitez, not because they are necessarily better managers , but they ARE NOT irritating fat w**kers Kev
Katon
I'd like a time-share - Rafa handles the cup semifinal tactics, Jose does everything else.

In work today I came across yesterday's Telegraph with this article: Benitez promises all-out attackBy Henry Winter Last Updated: 11:55am BST 01/05/2007 http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.j ... win01a.xml If that was all out attack I'm Bolo Zenden. falkirkchelsea
Both are quality. How many other managers could turn a champions league semi into a game like wimbledon vs sheffield united from the late 80s.genius
