Loud and Proud
Although i'm sure Derby is just as sh*te as West Brom, i'd like Derby to do it, purely cause i've want to do the away trip.

loz
Derby for me as well - mainly for the reason Gem gave, they came third and desrve promotion on those grounds. Also because my father-in-law lives near there and I may be able to sneak in a cheeky 'Lets visit your Dad for the long weekend' conveniently around the same time as we play there

Lofty
Derby because of that idiot West Brom supporter who's a regular caller to TalkSport. Or maybe it's 5Live? Dunno. does it mater? The point is, he irritates the life out of me. Then there's "Boom Boom Baggies" - how naff is that?
Maksimov
Derby, because they finished third. The top three clubs should automatically be promoted. If 46 matches aren't enough for you to prove you're good enough to be promoted, why should you be given 2-3 extra matches to prove your worth? Playoffs may be exciting, they may keep the season going for another couple of weeks, and they may generate a fair few quid. But are they fair? Are they f*ck. loz
Personally I am torn on the play offs idea. A part of me things it is very unfair that the third spot team has to be involved in a play off involving teams below them in the league some of which may have finished 15 or 20 points behind them. However another part of me does recognise that the play offs reduce the number of totally meaningles games that occur in the last quarter of the season and therefore fans get to see more properly competitive matches. Maybe there should be some sort of half way house where by the team finishing third is given some sort of advantage over the teams in 4th, 5th and 6th (and maybe 4th gets an advantage over 5th and 6th etc) Maybe something like the 6th team plays off against the 5th team in a one off game held at the home of the 5th team - that should be on a Saturday. On the Wednesday of the same week the winner of that game plays a one off game at the home of the team that finished 4th. The winner of that game then plays in the final against the 3rd team and that final is played at Wembley. The final should be played on the SAturday. This would mean that the teams finishing higher would have home advantage up until the final and it would mean that the 3rd place team would only need to play one game AND would have the advantage of having their players rested whereas their opposition in the final would have played either one or two games in the week already. geezer
Why do the winners of the play offs get a trophy whilst the team which finishes as runners up in the league don't get one?
Lofty
Funny I've never thought of that. I suppose it's because it's the final of a (mini) knockout competition, and it's at Wembley/Cardiff when Wembley was being rebuilt, so they have a trophy to mark the occasion. Enrico
Why do the winners of the play offs get a trophy whilst the team which finishes as runners up in the league don't get one? Never realised it actually, but does this happen anywhere else?
BLUENUT
I think its a shame that the entire middle teir was empty yesterday due to lack of interest from the corporates. Surely the FA/League could re-sell these tickets to the 'real' fans if the prawnies can't be bothered.

Surely the FA/League could re-sell these tickets to the 'real' fans if the prawnies can't be bothered. That was yet another stupid decision by the FA - they actually knew in advance that none of those seats would be taken, the clubs appealed to them for the tickets to be released and they said 'No' If anyone on here can find any logic behind that decision then they are two pills short of a strait jacket.
