If a suitable offer comes in, do you think we should cut our loses and sell him? Or hope that he comes good?

What's a suitable offer?

He looks to me as if his legs have gone, as if he's playing from memory. We'd be lucky to get 10 million for him.

I reckon we should keep him. He might get the odd flukey goal from a misdirected cross.

I think Milan would be willing to pay a fair bit more than ?10million if they could afford to, but they can't. Neither are they willing to consider any part exchanges, or at least those are the kind of noises that have been coming from the San Siro. I don't think anyone else wants him, or could afford him.

I really, really would like Sheva to come good next seaon - I mean apart from anything else, ?30million down the plughole is so embarrassing - even for someone with as much money as Roman, it's not exactly a drop in the ocean. It's inarguable that we didn't see too many signs of him being the world class player that he is/was last season.

Don't write him off just yet though.

20 - 1 in favour of him staying (so far). Pretty conclusive numbers. But I wonder if - for example - we bought Tevez, how many would chose to start Drogs and Tevez in a 442 rather than Drogs and Shev or Tevez and Shev? In other words, how many are voting 'keep Shev', only to want / expect him to spend most of the season as a 30 million pound sub...

He's not a 30 m pound sub. That's his historic cost. He's probably more like a 10 m sub and that's not too different to a few others in the squad.

Personally I think roman likes sheva and will be more willing to fund acquisitions if he is kept and played and so I think he should stay.

I also believe that even though his legs are going, as was obvious when we bought him, I mean what 30 year old strikers have legs as good as when they were 25. Even though his legs are going he will be better next season as he adjusts to the pace of the english game.

If he scores 10 goals in the Premier next season may be the difference between coming first and second.

If we got 20+ mil for him, and replaced him with Tevez, and a quality young, Drogba-style player, then I think that would be good business.

If we flogged him back to Milan for 10 million and signed McCarthy for 15 - bad business.

I think that we will hang on to Sheva - and he will be undoubtedly a better player next season. But, I am really beginning to doubt if he will ever get back to where he was 3-4 years ago with Milan. He will always have great technique and be a world-class finisher, but I don't think his pace is ever going to come back.

Can't believe that 27 still think he will come good.

Wake up and smell the coffee!!!

Or is that 27 just don't want to sell him and take a huge loss and admit the mistake of signing him in the first place?

(I voted get rid)

Keep him but GET RID OF BALLACK. If the stench of Ballack leaves I reckon Sheva will come good. I predict than when the Drogs heads to the ACN and Sheva gets a clean run he'll shine - the goals will come. F*ck off ballack you squad spoling, lamearse good for nothing c8UNT

you know ballack is also the reason the states won't sign the kyoto agreement.

i voted no, but only because shevchenko is a sublime footballer.

Going a bit far there arnt ya G4... you fashisht!!

Personly i would stop at he has just been pants this season...

I think Ballack was pants this year but he probably has more chance of coming good than Sheva. Once a forward losses his pace he's finished. Sheva does'nt have the strength to adjust his game into a target man, we can only hope he has enough ability to drop off and play behind Drogba, but Eider was perfect for that and its not what we signed him for.

I do think his second season will be better, like Essien and Drogba, but his best days are behind him. Then again thats what you get when you sign a 30yr old.

Okay, now I've no idea what that means? Is this a new football term that's been flying around and I just missed a memo somewhere along the line? How exactly does he go from being valued at 30 million quid to being valued at 10 million quid in just one season?*

*playing crap all season notwithstanding...

YES, but not because "his best days are behind him".

YES, because we (JM) can't use him properly, and subsequently he's a world class player, on a world class wage doing a Drogba impersonation.

P.S. Ballack wasn't "pants". He was only decent at first (wich is perfectly normal due to the fact he was playing on a new team, blahblahblah) and then grew with time. I would go so far as saying we woudln't have lost to the f**kin' Scousers if he was playing.

I would go so far as saying we woudln't have lost to the f*****' Scousers if he was playing.

I wouldn't go anywhere near that far.

Although I'll grant you he would almost certainly have tucked away a penalty unlike Robben & Geremi.

I still have hope in both of them, as the rest of you do (as the poll clearly shows).

Both Sheva and Ballack started playing good football in the second part of the season.

Too bad the injuries stopped it all.

I still believe!
