James is twice the athlete Robinson is. I think he's got a raw deal due to media assassination.

I agree with Ken. 'Calamity James' stuck.

With James it's a concentration thing, not an ability, thing. With Robinson it's either an ability thing or possibly a meat pie and chips thing...

To be honest neither keeper is true international class - both are prone to lapses of concentration and as a result the defenders in fornt of them do not play with a lot of confidence in their keeper. Unfortunately yhry are the best of a bad bunch, we are not blessed in the goalkeeping department in England in the way we used to in 'the olden days'

It used to be the one position we could rival, no better, the rest of the world in, but now we are lagging.

Have to agree James is a great athlete but im not sure he got such a raw deal, at the end of the day he is prone to huge lapses. At the top level you need to be able to have nothing to do for most of the game and then be world class for a split second, thats why he's a very good keeper for a mid table team.

Robo on the other hand i think has what it takes, and two seasons ago was every bit an international keeper but really has been of his game this season and probably cos of the extra couple of stone!

I don't care how tall, old, fat, good any other goalkeeper is - no one is taking Cech's place anytime soon.

I don't know Gem, this guy will be 7 feet tall (literally) by the time he's finished growing! That's gotta be a big (pardon the pun) plus in a keeper. And with Cech and Carlo around, he's learning his trade from the very best. We may indeed have someone good enough to challenge for the #1 shirt within a very few years indeed!

And failing that...turn Andre the Giant into a striker!!!

It would be good to have an English keeper...being an English team and all...but petr is the best in the world, and you really can't argue with the best.

As for the new kid. Well we have a huge Belgian keeper and a huge German keeper in our reserves/youth. It takes more than height. Especially as I do not believe any of our young keeper look the part currently.
