yorkleyblue
I liked this bit from Stevie Me Gerrard said: "From what I've seen of him so far he's got everything you need in a Liverpool player; good at pickpocketing, good at burglary and hub-cap stealing, he can get the radio out of a beemer in under 45 seconds and he's also already a well-known face down at the Giro office. "I expect him to be breaking down doors of the houses of first team players on BIG ANFIELD European nights(TM ITV) before too long and stealing all their valuables, and hopefully, in time, he can help us nick many trophies." RedRobMol
Just for the record, he?s Brazils U20 captain and last year became the youngest ever winner of the Brazilian player of the year. High hopes for the lad personally.

RedRobMol
Not buying the league nor nuffink though La? no, singing a player of great potential for a pretty reasonable fee. Like all clubs do, all the time. How is that buying the league. Look at the net spend. Garcia -?4m, Gonzalez -?4m, Bellamy -?7.5m, Cisse -?6m, (-?21.5m) Torres ?20m, Babel ?11m, Lucas ?5m, Benayoun ?5-6m. Total net spend on first team players ?20-21m. Hardly blowing the budget. now off the top of my head... Veron ?15-20m Carvalho ?20m Drogba ?24m Essien ?32m Ferriera ?14m Robben ?16m Shevchenko ?30m i'm glad we have finally got the money to mean we can get the players we want, instead of having to settle for pennant when we wanted Alves etc, but buying the league is well off the mark. Wealthy owners they may be, but a sugar daddy they aint!

barak81
You cant use the word NET as a deffence for spending money, your still spending vast amounts of cash on players, vast ammounts that many other teams can not afford and have probably upped the wages a little with the new owners on bored. If your spending 25 million on a player, you cant then say we'r not buying the league because we sold a few where as when chelsea spent 25 mill on a player they let no one go so there for they have baught the league!! yorkleyblue
Rob - where are the CFC sales for the same period then? You appear to be alloting minus figures for all the players you have sold to give you a net spend, adding in the likes of Veron to the CFC buys. Also, where in your list are the likes of heskey, kewell, diao, pennant, crouch, agger, whoever? Or do we want to compare money spent for just this close season? kev
Barn
In previous year Thescousescum have bought so many players of average ability that now they are spending a lot of money on good players but to counter that they are getting rid of a lot of their not really very good fringe players. Yes that makes their annual spend look reasonable, well done as everyone should have realised long before now Thescousescum will not be buying the league just because they're buying the best players around - they're developing a league winning team, because they're trimming their first team suad of 45 down to a managable 28. Thescousescum are, always have been and always will be the perfect model of what a football club should be, and their fans are just terrific! They don't buy players from clubs so much as compensate clubs who should be greatful that their players want to join the dream of mersey side in the first place??? dkw
You cant use the word NET as a deffence this is there latest love, after that 5 times garbage. net spending is ok apparently. just disregard the fact that they bought the players they sold on. as that doesnt count. so buying bellamy for ?6 mill and selling him for ?7.5 mill is a profit of ?6 mill apparently. they really are ignorant beyond belief. Sofa Manager
This kid is good, Very good. Let's see how he adpats, but here's hoping he performs a U-Turn and goes back for Carnaval before February. P.S. This whole episode regarding who bought the league and who bought Marc Gonzalez is simply B---SH-T. If I have the money I buy an Aston Martin, you don't have, you steal...I mean you buy a Fiat Uno. So what ? Now you're spending like whores, simply because you have the money for it - finnaly. And everything's ok then. Jealousy and all....and justice for all....blah blah
Alan
Obviously buying the league doesnt apply with Liverpool. The hypocrisy of some people really is laughable.

High hopes for the lad personally. He just seems to have come right out of nowhere, has Rafa been tracking this guy for a while do you know? Usually you get a hint in the press that a manager is interested in a player. Was it a surprise to the Liverpool fans and how do they rate him and where will he play for you and how often in Rafa's ring the changes every five minutes team? Questions....questions... Thinking about it, ?17m and ?10m respectively should have made my list. Also the liverpool list is since the "investment" as yours was supposed to be. I wasnt trying to compare our buys from one close season to all of yours, but since the investment you received you splashed cash like it was going out of fashion and lets be honest, you didnt try very hard to get much back in from sales, nothing significant that i can remember. All I am trying to say is that the money we have spent this close season as a Net figure is comparative to our usual budget, and i would guess well below that spent buy spurs and perhaps even West Ham once they finish. Guest Brian M
Unlike Torres, this guy might actually be okay. One thing though, in Brazil they speak Portuguese not Spanish...so how come JM didn't make a play for him...

Lofty
I've been thinking about starting a thread called something like ... Who really gives a toss about Liverpool or their supporters, and is sick to death and then some of hearing about their precious poxy bloody history. But I can't be bothered. Tim
I don't mean this in a harsh way, but Rob you and your club can f*ck off. I, and im guessing many others, are so sick of reading your myopic opinion and Scouse propaganda on this site. It bores me to tears, it really does, and nothing you say will ever make me hate your club and your self-righteous fans any less, so why bother. Thanks, Tim. And of course when Monsieur Foolier spent 128 million pounds worth of scally giros on, it has to be said, mostly dross, they weren't attempting to buy it then either. They were just investing in the future right.
TomP
Its a fact of life - every successful club "buys" their way to success to a certain extent. Having an arguement about who tried to buy their way to success MORE than someone else is more than a little bit ridiculous in my opinion.
