Times statistics (carrying a Gem and Lofty health warning)

Whoever is in charge of Steven Gerrard’s PR is doing a marvellous job.…

Today’s Times reliably informs us that Franco Baldini, the England assistant manager, says the players were given extra training because they were not “technically” good enough. The newspaper then took it upon themselves to compile figures, in terms of passing and control, for the whole 90 minutes and they found that Gareth Barry was the chief culprit over his 74 minutes, making four ‘very poor passes’ and twice ‘failing to control the ball in straightforward circumstances’ The stats, measured in badness, for the others (all of whom played more than 45 minutes football) came out as follows:-

4 Wes Brown - 90min (3 pass, 1 control)

3 David Bentley - 90min (2 pass, 1 control)

2 Ashley Cole - 73min (2 pass)

2 Joe Cole - 58min (1pass, 1 control)

2 Wayne Rooney - 87min (1 pass, 1 control)

1 Rio Ferdinand - 90min (1 pass)

1 Matthew Upson - 90min (1 pass)

0 Jermaine Jenas - (57min)

0 Steven Gerrard - (90min)

Could it be that this really was a perfect performance from Stevie G, devoid of any ‘very poor’ passes? Nah, I’m guessing that the Times, in keeping with standard practice where Gerrard and the British Press are concerned, simply ignored his usual half dozen aimless efforts and gave their 'Statutory Stevie Score', namely one that was better than the rest, whether it looked plain stupid or not.

Probably the same statistical genius's, or their direct (inbred) descendants who were responsible for Liverscum being awarded Best Behaved supporters year after year, perpetuating yet more mythology among the self-deluded ones, aided and abetted by the sycophantic half-wits of the Great British Gutter Press.

A serious question for you all.

I've hated Liverpool more than anyone I've ever known for as long as I can remember, for a long time making me the laughing stock. So what has happened? Have Chelsea fans become so bitter and twisted that we suddenly feel everything they do is at least 10 times worse than it really is? Are Chelsea fans the only ones that feel this way about the games great representatives? Are the press really that far removed from the truth where the scum are concerned?

I find it incredible that we can see the truth but those that write in the press cannot, so who's right and what do other fans think????

The outcome of this would not make a blind bit of difference to me but I've seen a massive shift in Chelsea fan's opinion from seeing them as self obssessed scallies to being the scum of the world!??

I think the answer lies in the amount of contact we've had with these bar stewards over recent years. Back in the '70's and '80's+, we were just another team as far as they were concerned, no serious challenge to them, despite the occasional famous victory. However, the modern Chelsea FC is a very different animal. We've not only rivalled them but have overtaken them, and for that they hate us with a passion. To them we're scum because .. because they say we are, just as they describe JT as a cowardly mongoloid. And it's this constant targetting of all things Chelsea that turns my stomach. The ignorant "no history" taunts, sanctioned by the press for f**k's sakes. Remember that c**t in the Times or the Mail or whatever rag it was who said that Liverscum fans were right to chant "you ain't got no history?" And they in their supremely self-absorbed ignorance seem to believe that we should be ashamed of the history that they say we haven't got ... because they say we haven't got a history to be proud of.

There's a school bully mentality about LFC fans - you are. yes you are. because I said so, that's why. Example, before I was banned from the Liverscum Way, some twat accused me of beng a web designer from Soho named Targuin, that I'd be off to the rugger when I got bored with the soccer. And when I replied that nothing could be further from the truth? His response "bollox. Your name is Targuin" ... or the other example of scouse wit ... "you really really really suck. " Well gosh.

Should I go on? Ok. I've never come across a nastier bunch of hypocritical, self-righteous scumbags. RedRob "I just love it the way every one else is obsessed with my team". No you stupid f**king c**t everyone hates you for what you are, for the bitterness and bile YOU display towards Chelsea football club and which in the same breath you accuse us of.

Oh dear. Look what's happened. There I was attempting to explain why I hate the scummy rat-munching self-delusional hypocritical cowardly bullying loud moathed bunch of bar stewards and I've gone off on one again.

It's just that types like Targuin and yourself argue their case so convincingly!

I don't live in england, but what i have noticed from this forum, is that things were quite rational (typical complaining about history, media bias etc) before a few certain events. Such as, Benetiz vs Mourinho, fans unpunished by UEFA, Redrobknob, Lampard vs Gerrard, Gerarrd vs Terry, Liverpool fans wanting JM, it being OK for them to be owned by a foreigner, but not us..

anyone care to continue?

When the F*** are newspapers going to open their eyes?

Don't hold your breath - the press have been lauding the scouse scum since the mid-sixties. The b*stards were in the 2nd Division in 1962, so why they became so popular with the media is beyond me. The only reasons I can think of are: -

a) Bill Shankly, great manager, hell of a character, always good for a quote in the same way as Cloughie & Mourinho

B) the hordes of jobless scouse scum on the Kop singing an old 1940's showtune. For some very strange reason this had the majority of sports writers creaming their Y-fronts throughout the 60's & 70's.

The fact that these obnoxious unemployed vermin ridden w*nkers (scousers, not journalists - though there's little to choose between the two) who used to boast about a stranger pissing in their pocket as if it were something to be proud of, used to slice up opposition fans with Stanley knives after games somehow never got reported. Death would be too good for the vast majority of the c*nts (I include journalists here).

As an aspiring journalist I take offence to that! icon_lol.gif

Guest Brian M

Hi, thank you for calling. Gem isn't available right now, but she has asked me to remind everybody that Steven Gerard is a c*nt. And to say that unless you're a Scouse, please leave your message at the sound of the tone. Oh, and if you are a Scouse, don't even think about it. Her place has security alarms all over it. And she's already on her way home. Now f*ck off back to Liverpool and read up on how to qualify for the Intertoto cup.

Pretty much all of them grew up through the scouse dominated era of the 70's and 80's when they were the Man U of the day. Had they not won the CL for a 5th time it's unlikely the press would be favouring them quite as much as now however that victory rekindled childhood memories for many of them which puts them back in their comfort zone where they prefer to be.
