May 2, 200817 yr What a fantastic day out. Chelsea V Rangers. Welcome to the site mate but I have one request. Lose the 1690 badge in your avatar - it isn't welcome here.
May 2, 200817 yr 1690 was the Battle of the Boyne which is a battle widely associated as a decisive milestone in the battle between Protestant and Catholics. It is seen as a key moment in Protestant history and some Rangers fans use it as a definitive iconic moment however the vast majority of them don't have a bloody clue about it. What is laughable is that 'King Billy' (i.e. King William of Orange) actually had Catholics fighting in his army and carried the banner of the papal state with them!! They keep that one quiet in the streets of Larkhall!!
May 10, 200817 yr What is laughable is that 'King Billy' (i.e. King William of Orange) actually had Catholics fighting in his army and carried the banner of the papal state with them!! They keep that one quiet in the streets of Larkhall!! It's like that in a lot of great battles/wars, even today the US are using an Iraq army to fight an Iraq army. Henry V of England had Welsh archers firing at Welsh archers, till the English started to lose, then they turned thier bows on the English.
May 10, 200817 yr the English also had a lot of the Campbells fighting on their side against the Scottish. William and Mary also funded the Campbells to try and take the Isle of Mull from the MacLeans, and the Campbells are also responsible for turning on their hosts, the MacDonalds, in glencoe all for the expansion of thier own clan.
