DREAM TEAM ?

SNS1374GX1_507191a.jpg

THIS is how Chelsea could line up when the new season kicks off on August 16.

And it will mean revolution not evolution at Stamford Bridge because Luiz Felipe Scolari has very little patience.

Big Phil is determined to give Roman Abramovich his own dream team — including Ronaldinho, David Villa and Deco — as quickly as possible.

It is the way he has attacked every coaching job he has held — and this will be no different.

After taking over as Portugal coach in 2002, he said: ?It will be a revolution — especially in terms of mentality.

?First there will need to be an overhaul, as happens in any company when they change boss. When that happens I don’t know, because it depends on the human resources.?

Scolari has identified four stellar signings who can bring beautiful football to Stamford Bridge.

The new Blues boss has been given full support and ?100million to deliver trophies in style. And that could see the famous foursome of Ronaldinho, Villa, Deco and Samuel Eto’o signed.

It will also mean the end of Jose Mourinho’s ‘winning is everything’ philosophy, which often saw the team grind out results. Like Mourinho though, Scolari does not suffer fools gladly.

He is a strict disciplinarian who will invade all parts of his players’ lives to ensure they behave.

If anyone at Chelsea was thinking of indulging themselves in the summer break, they should beware Scolari’s bite.

He warned his Portugal players before Euro 2008: ?Some guys are going to have to be careful.

?Those who are two or three kilos overweight, have big arses and are more worried about nightlife and fashion shows than football might miss the boat.

?I’m sending out a message. I’m watching, examining, reading interviews. I’m on their case.?

That is exactly the kind of straight talking which so impressed Abramovich that the Chelsea owner gave him a ?5m-a-year contract.

In return, Abramovich wants fantasy football at Chelsea — and fast.

Scolari has vowed to make the Blues the best team to watch in England.

At a meeting with Abramovich at the end of last month, the Russian billionaire explained his vision of how he wants his side to play.

Scolari has since responded by giving him a wish-list of signings.

Ideally, he would like to bring fellow Brazilian Kaka to Stamford Bridge and build his team around him.

However, Carlo Ancelotti’s decision to snub Chelsea and stay on as AC Milan boss has made sure that the Samba star will also remain in Italy.

At 28, Ronaldinho is older and more troubled of late — but there is a special relationship between the two men who share the same birthplace of Porto Alegre.

It was with Scolari’s foresight and support that Ronnie catapulted to world superstardom during Brazil’s triumphant World Cup campaign in 2002.

His outstanding performances — including knocking out England with a wonder goal — opened the door for his ?25m move to Barcelona from Paris St Germain in 2003.

During five years at the Nou Camp, the two-time World Player of the Year has inspired Barca to two league titles and a Champions League win.

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is one of Ronaldinho’s biggest fans.

He said: ?Ronnie has an amazing attitude to football. Football is as natural to him as speaking — and maybe that’s why he always plays with a smile. We faced him twice with Barca in the Champions League and each time he was devastating.

?People say that when the best players are on their game then there’s nothing you can do to stop them.

?But Ronnie is different again. He is goalscorer and creator — he’s explosive and can deceive you with a trick from his boot or just a look.

?You’re scared to tackle him because he can make one move and leave you for dead. Ronnie is no circus act. He’s not there to please the crowd. He wants to win matches and you can’t teach that. It’s pure instinct.?

Scolari is very happy with his defence and midfield options and he has already told Chelsea they must offer a new contract to his Portugal centre-back Ricardo Carvalho.

Mourinho wants Carvalho at Inter Milan but the defender and his family are happy in London and he will stay if offered improved terms.

Scolari is also keen to keep Lampard at the club and has been promised by Chelsea officials that talks will begin when the England man returns from holiday.

Scolari wants to play Lamps and Michael Ballack behind Deco, Ronaldinho and Villa, who will all feed Eto’o as the main striker.

Portugal play in a very similar way to his Brazil side and that is the model for the way he wants to transform Chelsea.

Strange article.

That said however, it would be interesting to see people post their ideal sides again now that we have a manager as Scolari will no doubt have his favourites.

----Terry-----Terry-------

...we got 11 Terrys on the pitch...We would be unbeatable.

I'm expecting to see us to play either a 4-2-3-1 or narrow style 4-3-3 next season (with the 4-3-3 probably being the most likely option). Either way, I am expecting 1 up top formations, with attacking midfielders in behind in a christmas tree formation type shape rather than the attacking trident shown in Yogic's post which I think would be brought out only when we are chasing a game. I also expect to see width come primarilly from our wing backs on most occassions.

This is to give something of an indication but don't place too much emphasis on the names mentioned:

-------------------------------------------Cech--------------------------------------------------------

Fox Dynamo-------------------Terry---------------------Carvalho---------------------------------A.Cole

------------------------------------------Makelele-----------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------Ballack------------------Van Der Vaart-------------------------------------

---------------------------Ronaldinho-------------------Joe Cole----------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------Huntelaar------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------Cech--------------------------------------------------------

Fox Dynamo-------------------Terry---------------------Carvalho---------------------------------A.Cole

------------------------------Ballack---------------------Essien----------------------------------------

---------------Ronaldinho--------------Van Der Vaart-----------------------Joe Cole--------------------

------------------------------------------Huntelaar----------------------------------------------------

The wing back formation has been mentioned and would certainly be interesting. I was about to say we don't have the players for it, but with Ivanovich perhaps we do.

-------------------------------------------Cech--------------------------------------------------------

-------------------Ivanovich---------------Terry--------------------------Carvalho---------------------

Fox Dynamo--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------A.Cole

------------------------------Ballack---------------------Essien-----------------------------------------

-----------------------------Ronaldino------------------Joe Cole----------------------------------------

------------------------------------------Huntelaar-----------------------------------------------------

or even....

-------------------------------------------Cech--------------------------------------------------------

-------------------Ivanovich---------------Terry--------------------------Carvalho---------------------

Fox Dynamo--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------A.Cole

-------------------------------------------Essien-------------------------------------------------------

-------------------Ronaldino------------Van Der Vaart----------------------Joe Cole---------------------

Love the look of that line up Qaz but i'd personally prefer Villa instead of Huntelaar. As for huntelaar there has been alot of rumours been going around that he is Real Madrid bound and our interest has been very stale in him latley.

And of course Lampard instead of VDV if he stays, but as time goes by i just think if we do lose Lamps it wouldn't be such a huge dissapointment if we get someone like Van der Vaart in. He's done great things for the club but it would be nice to see him have success elsewhere.

Villa doesn't strike me as someone who can play the lone strikers role. His more someone who likes to play off the centre foward than the player who holds the ball up himself. To be honest, i've not seen any of Huntelaar so I don't even know if his appropriate for that role, Benzema would be though.

I'd take that, but put Villa in place of Ronnie

I know think with Big Phil in place, though, that we may see us disregaurd the Dutch players we were seemingly after. Could it be all the Dutch players we were linked with was while we were still possibly talking to Rijkaard?

I could see us go more for Villa and Queresma

Boswinga............................Cole

J. Cole..........................Queresma

Haha, nice one! I think I was undecided about Deco or VDV sitting in behind the striker. Or, you could play Villa and Huntelaar up front together.

However, I am not sure who Scolari will target now, so it could be Deco over VDV, and maybe Arguero? instead of huntelaar

I sincerely doubt Villa (if we signed him) would be the furthest man forward. I am thinking we'll be going with a two man forward line with wide players supporting.

I have a feeling my line-up will be changing a lot as we move forward through the off-season, but at the moment, if I had to hazard a guess, I think it may be something like this:

			   Cech
Bosingwa Carvalho Terry A.Cole
	  Essien Lampard
J.Cole Ronaldinho
		Villa Anelka

Again, this could change depending on how much faith Scolari has in players such as Sheva, Anelka and Pizarro. I have a feeling players such as Eto'o could be real targets. I'm less certain if long-term targets such as Huntelaar and van der Vaart will be pursued.

Cheers,

Butch

Really hope that we are still in for Huntelaar and VDV: but as I said before, I think that targets like KJH and VDV were names being touted while Rijkaard was still a possibility for manager. Now that we have Scolari, the news on those players seems to have run down to a trickle. Now we are being linked with more "mediterranean" style players, I feel we may see Villa, Arguero etc being players with whom we are now linked with more.

I wonder is Star has any more news seeing as we were told Huntelaar was a "lock" for a summer signing

Where does Ballack fit in ?

Ballack? He and Lampard are going to be fighting for a spot in our midfield. Also, if Deco comes, just think what that will do! I'm also wondering about Joe's place - how secure it is, I mean.

Cheers,

Butch
