Gael Kakuta & Franco Di Santo

Featured Replies

I think we should bring these two up to the first team.

Kakuta: French Player of the year U21.

Top Class Player

Young, Pacey & again a top class player.

Di Santo: Top scorer last season & he only joined in January

Great player

Same thing as Kakuta

I saw Kakuta play in the youth cup final & I thought he was well worth a go at bringing him up. Di Santo has a great work ethic & if we don't get Villa or Huntelaar or someone like that then Di Santo is your man. Just what we need, young, talented players.

It would be a good idea bringing them up but you need to think about Scolari.

Is he the type of manager that would experiment with young players, or go for the experience?

My opinion is the latter, why else would he want Deco, who's 30 years old?

If we had someone like Wenger who does experiment with young players (average age of his team being 9 years old), then they would certainly be brought up. But I'm not so sure. :)

The fact that 7 subs will be allowed next season means there's a fair chance of certainly Di Santo being added but they may consider leaving Kakuta for another season.

was just about to say the same thing geezer. i actually think they should have stipulated that out of the 7 at least 2 should be under 21`s.

I think Kakuta should wait another season, he's still not physically strong or fast enough, his technical ability is up there but he needs awhile longer for his body to grow up physically.

I wouldn't mind Di Santo making a few appearences next season, very good technical ability, quick, and he has a fantastic attitude.

I had no idea about this....great great news

Yeah, I am with you on this one. I feel that the 7 sub rule will allow us to combine experience with youthful exuberance, without costing anyone a place, nor jeopardizing the first team for the sole fact of reducing the age of the team

Scott

I think we really need to use them this season or they will go marching to Arsenal

I think we need to carefully think who we use in Carling cup games for example. We are not(/shouldn't be) after that trophy so let the younger guys play there. JM and Grant treated the younger guys wrong and that has to change. We have bought young guys to the team and they are eager to play, so let them show what they've got. Mikel is doing well considering he is 20-21.

Di Santo is a timely fit in Scolari’s plans for next season because he provides potential, as opposed to impatient, cover for what might possibly be three new arrivals. Assuming Didier goes and Pizarro is not far behind him, we are left with the shocking prospect of Anelka and Sheva waiting for the cavalry to appear over the hill. In all honesty, I can only see one of these two players staying and neither of them really meet the gold standard required of a Premiership season - pace and power over the long haul.

While Pauly throws his hands up in horror [at Sheva being viewed through such Luddite eyes] the rest of us know what’s needed in our game, even if he doesn’t, and Big Phil’s only got to think back to his last Big Defeat [against Greece in the Euros four years ago] to have any sort of inkling of the joys of the English game played at its destructive best/worst. What our new manager has to do is find forwards who are purveyors of pace and power and who can also play to a samba beat - a sort of Luca Toni with an eye for goal and a style that doesn’t make you look like you are dancing round your handbag all the time. In short, Di Santo, despite his tender years, fits this bill perfectly.

A very quick word on Kakuta - get him in as soon as possible, Phil, he really is special.

Scolari gave Kaka his initial chance with Brazil ( or so i hear) so i hold out some hope that Di santo atleast will get a couple of apps this season
