Grant said: “I didn’t really need Anelka last season and I told him so.

“He is a very good player but needs more passion in his game.”

Move along Avram, you are not here now! He must have spent his pay-off to be appearing in media interviews talking about Chelsea still. Isn't that how Jose made a few quid and grab some attention before his job started at Inter.

Avram was on a visit to Bulgaria a couple of weeks ago - on a private visit to the coach of my other team Levski. It appears they have known each other since Grant's days back in Israel.

While he was here, he gave a couple of interviews and was even linked to the Levski and national team's jobs !

I recovered, but the image still haunts my dreams. :D

Good on him for raising his profile and using the media to do it,

I have to say though, I think there is a lot of honesty in his words as not many would come out and say they would not have signed the man who is now the Premierships top scorer...

a better advert for him would have been to say "where would Chelsea be now if I hadn't signed Anelka".

Of course that's possible.

But perhaps if he'd said he didn't sign him but still cocked up by normally playing him out of position whenever he used him, that would have been more honest.

Heard on the radio today that all this is coming out because he wants the job putting out the cones at Sunderland.

You can look at it whichever way you like but either way if he was using it as a reference maybe saying nothing about Anelka would have been a better option,

There are other Managers who advertise theirselves at the medias expence and other Managers that have played players out of position.

To be fair, considering his performances in Avram's reign... it wouldn't really be a signing to be that proud of.

Well if you'd had a manager who told you he didn't want you at the club I'm sure you'd be pretty pissed off and not give your all for him. Explains a lot to me about Nic last season.

Well done Avram, great man management - NOT!

He'd likely have been played the same way this season if Scolari never had the luxuary of not having to choose between him and Drogs, Grant just wanted to get them both in the team and for some reason as has happened before and since not in a 4-4-2.
