Morgan Rogers
My villa mate is delighted theyve pocketed 120 million. says hes good but no way near worth 100 million. Given Villa is owned by another Yank, this is probably financial book cooking, Villa will buy someone from us in the next 12 month preiod worth 50/80 million. This league is done... football is toast... as demonstrated at the World Cup where professional players knew the game is rigged.

Other than getting rinsed by Bellingham (who came on fresh), don’t recall seeing individual errors. The midfield and Konate didn’t feel like defending, and don’t get me started on Theo Hernandez. I think £55m is the right amount.

I thought he actually did ok last night, especially as he was playing alongside the utterly shambolic konte. Im not sure we can rate any player on last nights game, was ridiculous.

Morgan Rogers is a good player and I am very pleased we signed him. the money? Capitalism sucks. It is as simple as that. it is disgusting that we have such discrepancy in wealth and the margins keep getting worse and people should be building guillotines and lopping of the heads of these billionaires and instead people are going shopping. . . .it is what it is.

Id rather get Stones on a free, Im sure he can manage 1 game a week, hes only 32. Have Chalobah and Fofana as backups. Get rid of Badiashille and Disasi. If were going to upgrade get Branthwait next year.

also, I lok at the money and its frankly gross. Im told its the going rate, to be expected in this day and ag etc... paying 100 million for a footbaler is appalling given the inequality among fans n the stands and football industry. Rogers is worth 30 million max. There is nothing worht 100+ million about him nothing. Congratulations CFC, the World Cup isnt over and preseason is 3 days old and my blood is boiling. Game has gone if any fan thinks rogers is a 100 million pound player. Its daylight robbery of fans everywhere.

Bang average England midfielder signs for 118 million pounds. When does this bullsh*t end.

Morgan Rogers
That’s how I see it. FWIW I think he is a very good player and I’m very happy with this signing. Other than the FFP angle the price isn’t that important to me, I’m more interested in getting value for money and quality players. Everyone laughed at Declan Rice’s price but let’s face it as much as most of us despise Arsenal he’s worth every penny. Also we’ve blown much more than £117m on players who haven’t provided value. Delap for £30m isn’t some sort of bargain, and we have wasted money on Garnacho and Gittens (£100m), all in the same transfer window, so if we buy someone like Morgan Rogers who I believe definitely improves us then I’m onboard with this signing. He is Villa’s best player and gobbling up other Premier League teams best players is how you improve your team, a tactic that has proven to work for decades.

Blueco you twats, go and sign Jon Stones on a FREE!
And then to rub it in, we played them a few weeks after this and he put in a worldie of a performance when they beat us 3-1 and had Costa in his pockets all game.

The way we played that game - our game management - was atrocious. I cannot get over it. We brought on defenders to park the bus and it was the short bus of ideas - the short bus with all the retarded kids on it [sorry - i meant "challenged" or something polite]. We were so close and if we had a proper manager and if we had brought on Saka and Cole Palmer - maybe Trent? Foden? Players who actually like to play football - players who are not ball adverse. sigh. shakes head. we finished 3rd which was much better than i thought we would do - but still.

Still remember that time we tried to sign him, Stones even handed in a transfer request, only for Everton to get up on their high horses and reject the move, recall Martinez singing “money can’t buy me stones” (as in The Beatles song) in a presser, only for them to sell him to City the season after anyway! 🤦♂️ Oh what could have been..

Can people stop with this pay as you play nonsense?

I think the perfect option if possible, would be a basic low salary, and a pay as you play big bonus to reach the sort of money he's on now. His type of experience is essential with our squad. If it could be a rolling 1 year contract too, all the better.

Let's stick with Disasi, Fofana and Badiashile. I wouldn't be surprised if they are not going for him anyway, they already have so much dead wood to shift in that area.

I think Lacroix is a decent enough player and at 26 he is more of a grown up and we need that - especially at the back. BUT they are now asking/wanting £70m!!!???! £70 million and well, why not just walk away from that. For context Guéhi went to Citeh for a reported fee of £20 million. I mean obviously time left on contract, etc. AND it is not my money so I try not to be too bothered . . .but when you buy a top quality player, he must be a top level player. Perfect would be a nice option at that price. . . .and Stones on a free would be a more sensible option and we keep looking for the perfect CB as we wait for Josh to grow up.

I thought the same but he was asked this in an interview on the last day last season and he made a point of saying that he was fit all of last season, he just wasn't selected.

Morgan Rogers
The good thing about this move is he can play anywhere amongst the front line. He is a no.10, but majority of his goals is him drifting from the left and cutting in and scoring. His second goal against United at Villa Park this season was majestic. He has all the attributes you want and helps out Palmer because he is prepared to do the defensive work rate. His defensive work rate is phenomenal. And he is still only 23, just about to turn 24. So well in his prime. Yes, the fee is a lot but this is Villa's best player we are talking about who have won a trophy and qualified for the UCL and is English. So the fee was always going to be high. Compare to the other transfers you have got. Anderson who joined City for similar fee. Tonali for £100m. Fernandes for £80m odd and West Ham got relegated, so that sounds about the going rate for the best player for a team who wins a trophy, in the UCL and is English.

Is this guy who just let in 6 against England? Constantly out of position, slow and clumsy and riddled with errors. No thanks.

People have got to stop getting hung up on the fee. Those numbers mean absolutely nothing nowadays. 50M for Torres was eye watering 10-15 years ago. We spent 60M on JJBG without even a blink last year. Times change. Look at the absolute bottom line, we were going into another PL season with Pedro Neto, Alejandro Garnacho or Jamie f**king Gittens as our LW options. We now go into the same season with Morgan Rogers, arguably the best English player in the PL last season. It’s a monumental upgrade and only makes us better as a side. Absolutely buzzing for this one personally. Adam Wharton would be the cherry on the cake.

Speaking of false 9s, Liam Delap is English, but we could lose him to Ireland if we don't lock him in to England.- Morgan Rogers
The transfer fee is crazy so I hope he's worth it. If Alonso is on board with signing him then I can get behind it. They have a massive inferiority complex.- Mike Penders
Sorry. Accuracy is paramount. Barco is 2' 5", the slap on the back of his head cost him an inch. However, my point remains.- World Cup 2026
The third place is flattering though we do not normally win this as we normally give the wider squad a chance. I think yesterday was TT's attempt to regain some credibility and he let something slip, in the last match he played Rogers rather than Saka as he had a feeling about Rogers, so Saka was actually available against Argentina. He could have brought him on along with Rashford and Watkins as soon as we started retreating. No excuses for me. However, nice to beat France with some decent goals and Bellingham's was the pick.- Mike Penders
Don't exaggerate Penders is only 6'6" - World Cup 2026
