Actually your wrong, the majority of those games he has started. He has started 11 premier league games and came on twice as substitute, and failed to score in any of those games. I don't think it's fair to say he hasn't been given a chance when he has started or played in almost half of the seasons games. Of course I believe it. Why wouldn't i? We play a high-pressing game where we expect all of our midfield to track back and defend and break away with pace when needed. Mata, whilst being utterly brilliant at other aspects of the game, sadly, is not capable of doing any of those things that the Jose system requires. Timetowaste - I am not implying that it was a good move to sell him to United. I never said that at all. I am just trying to explain why under Jose Oscar is the better No. 10.

For the record, Mata has made 17 appearances this season and scored 1 goal. Oscar has made 20 and scored 6. Obviously Mata is a more creative player than Oscar, no one is denying that - Jose himself. He just doesn't fit the system we play, it really is as simple as that. No player is bigger than the club.

It'll take a LOT more than Mata to get them to ever be title contenders again. Chelsea, Man City, and even Arsenal, are really starting to show dominance and are miles ahead of United right now, and with the best manager in the world plus the strengthening of key areas (striker) in the summer we only stand to get alot better. The financial implications for United not getting champions league would be massive. This seems like a panic buy/spend to make sure that top 4 spot happens - and on tonight's evidence I feel that even Mata will not be able to get them out of the sh*t storm they are currently in. Moyes was massively overrated at Everton in my opinion, and the fact that Martinez is having just as much success as he did with the same team kind of highlights this. And I highly doubt they will sack Moyes without giving him a few years, by which time the damage may be unrepairable. I think this is just the start of a slippery Liverpool-esque slope for United.

Oscar, under Jose, has been better than Mata, under Jose. Minute for minute, Oscar is by far the most effective player in this position. (again: Under Jose)

The whole 'Barkley' thing didn't start until start of the season when he scored a few goals and got multiple MOTM awards for Everton. Prior to that, he was relatively unknown and playing in the championship. I highly doubt he was the english player Jose was referring too.

If it was true surely we would of just offered Mata in exchange. Something tells me Jose has an ace card up his sleeve though.... Either that or he has got some serious explaining to do!

If he is out of the CL, his Spain chances will be even worst than they are now. He should of gone back to Spain where Del Bosque could realise why he should start for Spain.

Every journo reporting 'Mata didn't train....'. Chelsea TV reporting he DID train. I wonder which one I will believe. Seriously, this rumour needs to f**k off and die. It was even on the radio a minute ago.

For the record Eto'o himself has said he won't be here next season. It's just a one year stop gap. I expect to see lukaku and two new strikers but I suspect Torres may still be around

If Athletico are offering Costa to United if they back off the Mata deal... Why the f**k don't we just offer a swap deal and loan them Costa back till the end of the season.... I read this earlier. Pat always does a really good article. I love the bit about getting penalties at the Kop. I entered the competition but one thing is bugging me, it said which 'player' has a World Cup winners medal, but didn't Torres AND Mata win the 2010 World Cup?

You have to wonder how many people would call this 'racist' if it was a black woman sat on a white mannequin. Still remain unconvinced by lukaku. Doesn't seem to offer a great deal going forward, doesn't fit our style of play at all, can't hold up a ball and is either being lazy or doesn't lack the energy/work rate levels we will require of him. Does anyone know who/what eto is doing after his first goal when he runs to the bench? It looks a bit aggressive and like he's talking to someone on the bench? Just a hunch though.

I think it's more to do with our home record against top teams. Already beaten Citeh and the Dippers at home. United *should* be a walk over in there current form.

The boys will be well rested and eager to inflict some real damage on a low-morale United team. It'll be interesting to see if Matic starts, I'm doubtful that he will however. I'm also in two minds about Lampard, always a bit dodgy when he comes back off injury seems he needs a few games to find the pace of the game again. Baines and possibly even Gibbs would still get in ahead of Shaw at the moment (for England lb). They are valuing him at 30m, that's stupid money for a 19 year old who hasn't even had an international cap yet - no way we will pay that much.

In an ideal world we run with Cech for one more season whilst Thiabaut stays at Athletico and continues to improve. I don't think it's Cech's time yet.

When you consider that United paid 27.5mil for Fellaini (LOL - bullet officially dodged btw), this is an absolute bargain. VERY highly rated in Portugal. Kezman said he is 'one of the best in the world' in his position.

I dont want to see Matic risked on a big game like this and I dont think Jose will. Torres deserves to start going on previous form. Would like to see mata instead of Oscar, but I doubt it'll happen. Have Willian/hazard/mata played yet? I like the sound of wilian and haz working the flanks with Mata orchestrating play from the no. 10
