Are you DUMB? Point is that their seasons aren't done yet, while our season is literally done domestically unless we have a magnificent end and everyone else falters.... The key players in thibo, costa, hazard, cahill, ivan, matic, cesc and even begovic are all going to the euros and why would they want to play 110 percent when the domestic season is literally over and risk injury, etc.

A lot of things went wrong. However, just speaking primarily on the players, JT and Cahill played exceptional within the system last year. However, once the system had a few chinks, they were always going to get exposed because neither are particulary great Cbs...Another problem is that we don't have any proactive cbs, which hurts the offense..... People are surprised at hazard's output, but he's been like this for the past 3 seasons, starting slow and ending with a bang. Only difference is that we are near relegation zone and the other previous seasons we were usually in the top of the table... The Cm combo of matic and cesc worked well last season and both kind of dropped in the second half, but realistically, neither are fast/quick. Matic has long legs so he can cover space, however, Cesc is not an ideal Cm in the jose mold.... Than ramires has really dropped in the past 2 seasons and mikel is mikel. The most obvious answer to the question is really OSCAR. Oscar usually is the MVP for the first half of the season since Jose took over and did most of the pressing and allowed for the ams/cesc to move around to benefit themselves. Now, without Oscar's pressing and defensive output, Chelsea is being exposed for being an average individual defensive side. I remember a ton of folks said put hazard, willian or cesc in the n10 because of blah blah blah, however, none of them can do what oscar does and what jose wants from the n10 position. This is why most fans really never understood the role Jose placed on Oscar and the amount of sacrifice oscar had to do within his game to move forward with Jose's tactics.... Now, without Oscar, the team lacks the pressing intelligence and is losing every midfield battle so far...It's not a coincidence that the best football chelsea has played was when oscar was on form and the fact that now without oscar, the team looks terrible. Also, we have given up 12 goals already with supposedly the best fullback in england, 3 guys on PFA TOTY and Thibo...

Oscar pressing and defense allowed for the team to work effectively. Most of chances in the first half of the season when Chelsea was playing well was due to oscar retaining possession and hazard/cesc doing their magic. Now, without Oscar the team doesn't press effectively and guys in the middle are all getting exposed because of the increased in opportunities opponents have now against Chelsea. Guys like cahill, terry or ivan where never fast to begin with nor were cesc or matic. Last year, oscar covered the middle so well that they were rarely exposed, however, this season, you can see how slow they are without Oscar.

Ramires has rarely or ever played in the hole and Willian has speed and stamina, but does not press like Oscar does. Pressing isn't only about being fast, watch Barcelona during the Pep era. Xavi, iniesta nor busquets are fast midfielders, but they were the best pressing team in the world for many years and won back the ball all the time....Oscar tactical sense allows his pressing to be effective and destructive to the opposite team. RDM knew this as did Jose as did Menedez/scolari/mano. Oscar sacrificied his offensively ability the same way rakitic sacrificied his offensively ability for Barcelona this season, so the team as a whole would be more effective and his teammates would prosper. Playing a team game isn't about individuals, it's about how well the team can play effectively as well as produce results... Best Chelsea has looked all season was the first game when Oscar played until he got subbed out against probably the second best team we faced so far and probably one of the best midfields in EPL.

He does stop Chelsea leaking goals.... Watch Oscar's placement when he plays. For a kid that young, he is the most tactical player on this side outside of potentially JT. The guys in the middle have never been fast; Jt, cahill, matic and cesc. People wonder why Jose puts Dave as lb, its essentially to cover for JT's lack of speed and Hazard's attacking forwardness... Oscar saves matic/cesc/jt/cahill because he presses like a dog, wins the ball like a dog, so the opportunity for the opponents to get 1v1s against these slow turtles is limited because of oscar pressing and ball retention. Oscar is the one that helps the cms and the cbs and adds another body. Chelsea midfield has looked terrible since Oscar left and both Matic/Cesc have yet to play a good game this season... You don't understand what Oscar brings until he's gone. Oscar is the key for the Chelsea revive.

Chelsea/English fans really don't understand the role Jose wants Oscar and his number 10 to play. Keep on throwing out names and all of them will fail under Jose, outside of a potentially healthy Modric and Vidal. Chelsea has allowed 9 goals this season in 4 games....... United+Arsenal+Liverpool+City has allowed a combined 8 goals..... Oscar pressing and stamina allowed for the team of slow players to do their thing. No one on this team can replicate the job Oscar can even if it is for half a season. Matic is getting tired, Cesc is getting tired, Jt is getting exposed as is ivan and cahill and Thibo in his mind must be thinking why did I leave Atletico backline for this line...... Oscar is the key to the best version you will see this Chelsea team play. Not hazard, not cesc, not costa. When OScar is running in form, the team looks absolutely immense. Also, if you think about it logically, Oscar falling off the map in the second half has a lot to do with his workload in the first half and his body. Oscar looks like a scrawny teenage boy that is putting in tackles left and right and winning the ball/retaining possession and pressing like a maddog. Tell me another 10 in the world, that would sacrifice himself to do that.....

KDB is Steven Gerrard without the athletic component... Very good longball/hollywood ball, good outside shot. However, Gerrard was significantly better athletically than KDB. In the EPL, that might prove to be his downfall especially going to a squad where he won't be featured as the main man.

Eden cannot do what Oscar does in the hole nor can anyone else on this team. (as oscar cannot dribble like Eden can) The amount of pressing that Jose requires in the n10 role really is showing the importance of oscar to the team. Terry, cahill, matic and cesc are all being exposed this season because Oscar is not there leading the press.

RDM used Oscar in the hole for UCL. Maybe you don't remember in that little brain of yours. Rafa played Mata in the hole and we ended up 6th in the league, SO.......Maybe, you are a stat nerd that forgets how great this Juan Mata has been for a sh*tty United team... Maybe, you also forget how Wolfsburg is a pure counterattacking team that goes through KDB as the main player. At City, he won't be and will suffer statistically. Only player to get picked over oscar in the hole role is Neymar because brazilian's sponsors wanted neymar to be brazil's n10.

Overrated English player... He was bigger than everyone else in the u20s and now he's not. He's not good enough to be a n 10 and his worktrate is terrible to be a cm, unless he was Pirlo.

His pressing allowed for turtles like Cesc, Matic, Jt, Ican, Cahill less opportunity to be exposed. When Chelsea as a team were at their peak, you know what player was at his peak usually at that time? OSCAR It's no coincidence that we have let 9 goals already.

LVG plays Depay over mata in the hole and Herrara/Adan as well. RDM gave Oscar time in the n10 his first season and starting there in champs league over Mata. Jose picked Oscar over mata. Only coach that didn't was RAFA and he puts freaking Bale over isco/james in the hole.

Cahill plays well under chelsea system, but by no means is he a top cb.
