  1. THANK GOD FOR THAT... VAR is a joke.
  2. Could be a critical blow this one. The Lampard out crowd really finding their voice now across social media. No excuses today, I'm afraid.
  3. Unfortunately, my worst fears are being recognised. I know this is a transitional season, but the subs today did cost us the game. 2-0 up at home to Sheffield United and then drawing is unforgivable. Of course, I would give Frank the whole season regardless of what happens, but the Lampard out crowd are really finding their voice now. I have no reason whatsoever to believe that Lampard will still be here come Christmas time if we carry on like this. Honestly, if we don't start stringing together some comfortable wins he's done for.
  4. Hate to sound like the resident doom merchant, but I really think Lamps is gonna be brown bread sooner rather than later. I know it sounds insane, but trust me, the pressure is REALLY on now. I know people don't like to hear it, but trial by Twitter (and social media in general) is real now. The reactions have been vomit inducing today. The way some of our fans are treating this club legend is appalling. But the reason I think things are gonna get worse is because we're just spread so thin right now. Of course, the transfer ban, injuries etc are all playing a part. But ultimately, all this is doing is putting the spotlight on us and adding bits of pressure here and there. We need to steady the ship now or we'll be in a full blown crisis in a matter of weeks. I know how this sounds, but it's what I genuinely believe. The modern game is fickle, fickle, fickle. No one club is more than a few bad results away from a crisis.
  5. Yes! That's why I think Sunday is so important to us. If we win that match and avoid any drama, I think we'll be all right. Our next 3 fixtures after that are favourable.
  6. I know that, but once the pressure starts I can't see this team holding up. Trust me, if we mess up on Sunday the media's spotlight will be firmly on us and Frank.
  7. That's what worries me. If we don't get the result on Sunday I think we'll be in serious trouble. I know that sounds mad, but unfortunately it's the modern game for you. And once the rot starts it rarely stops. Frank needs more time.
  8. Really disappointed tonight. I championed Lampard from the moment he was mentioned as a potential choice for us, but things aren't right at the moment. The feeling I'm getting is that we'll play some good football like this but will keep getting unlucky. There's no strength in depth at all right now. And as crazy as this might sound, if we don't get the win against Leicester on Sunday, the pressure will be well and truly on. I just hope the majority of our fans keep their heads and don't call for Frank's. Lol. Of course, this is the worst way to start your reign at a new club, but he needs more time.
  9. Haha. Not at all. Whereas I think you're a bit of an ignorant prick. Take care, mate.
  10. Look, I completely get where you're coming from regarding your thoughts on Jose...I just disagree with you. You see, an opinion can never be wrong. And calling someone whom you know practically nothing about an idiot is just argumentative and rude.
  11. Resorting to ad hominem says it all, really. But if you think that Mourinho's legacy will be trashing clubs and leaving them in worse positions than when he joined... then all I can say is you know very little about football. He is a proven winner and I think deserves another chance should Lampard decline our offer... But hey ho. It's your opinion, just as I have mine. At the end of the day, it's not my fault you're triggered by my opinion.
  12. Fair enough, De Bruyne and Salah. But Lukaku? Nowhere near top 10 in the world.
  13. That's Jose's personality. He has more than a few narcissistic character traits. But this is only football at the end of the day. I'm not going to judge a man too harshly for things he's said/done in the past. Should I hold a grudge against David Luiz, too? His wild OOT celebration against us when he scored for PSG was the height of disrespect. But at the end of the day life's too short. You forgive, forget and move on. EDIT. Jose's comment regarding the Europa League was aimed at Rafa. He's the only rival manager he genuinely seemed to dislike off the pitch (him and Wenger were frenemies underneath it all, I can tell that from their recent interactions).
  14. Can't believe half of the things I'm reading on here. So many doubting Lamps and Jose. I don't think many of you understand that these are two LEGENDS we're talking about. I know that past glories (whether in a shirt or on the touchline) shouldn't influence decisions, but the truth is...they're both capable. Yes, Frank doesn't have the experience. But just like a few others have noted, look at Zidane and Pep. Strong connections to a club can make all the difference. That's why I don't think Ole's done at United yet. It creates a sense of belonging amongst the fans. Lamps is one of our own and when the going gets tough (and I'm sure it will next year, whoever is manager), we'd stand by him. I can't imagine one, real fan turning on him in his first year. Now as for Jose...I can't believe the outright hatred so many of you seem to have towards him. One person even calling me...'mad' for daring to suggest his return. Let me explain my thinking. Class is permanent. It never goes. Jose is more than capable of bringing success. The way some of you talk it's as though his second stint here was a disaster from day one. All we had was a bad four months. That's it. Yes, there were problems. But the ones who mostly turned against him (Costa and Hazard, IMO) are now gone. It may look as though trouble follows him around. But he's a strong manager. He won't stand for players not giving it their all and I respect that. The reason it went wrong at United is because he realised that Pogba was a lazy player, and the rest of the pampered squad turned on him. Player power is the problem in this case. Not Jose. So yeah. That's my opinion. And in future, if people can refrain from mocking my opinions that would be great.
  15. Care to elaborate? Look, I've never gotten why so many of our fans hate Jose. He's our most successful manager of all time. I'm not buying that he's done. He's still capable and would thrive under the pressure, IMO.
  16. Still want Lampard...but am quietly confident that the rumours are real and Jose is coming back. I, for one, would welcome Mourinho's return. I still think he suits us and that we can make this work in the long term.
  17. Yeah, I don't think we were actually going to sack him, either, I just don't think the rumours helped. But honestly, a large part of me is glad he's going. I can't even begin to imagine him as a long term manager for us.
  18. Me sticking up for Sarri is rather ironic, because I don't think he's the right man for us personally, but I can't deny that he's been treated unfairly. First of all, we threatened Sarri with the sack WAY too soon, even for us. And the rumours never really left. I believe that Sarri was told if we lost the Europa League final he would be fired, and he argued in a press conference that 10 months work shouldn't be based on one 90 minute match and said it wasn't right. (I'm not 100% sure if the board actually said they'd fire him, but I believe the rumours that it happened). People keep talking about Ole going downhill, but has he, really? I mean, he can't be classed as a failure at United just yet, can he? I know things don't look great, but I think he's in a decent position now. The pressure is off United now. I can see him doing okay with them. I don't think it's the same situation with Lampard. Given our transfer ban and Frank's lack of experience, I think we'd all be expecting a rather average season with even top 4 seeming like a bit of a pipe dream. Yes, I'm sure the board would be demanding a top 4 finish, but I don't think if we missed it he'd be fired because we, the fans, would NEVER turn on him (especially not under these circumstances). In this case, I can't see Roman pulling the trigger and it would help Lampard to relax into his new role and grow along with the team. If we're using our heads...who do we go for? Really? Lampard and Jose are the only options in my view because they're the only two managers who I think would take the position and do a good job. Who else can we go for who'd be willing to manage us given our current predicament? I mean, I know to a certain extent we're downplaying things, but we're in a full blown crisis right now. People don't like to hear it, but for many portions of the season Hazard carried us on his back, and even with his help it's only because our rivals fell apart that we even made top 4. We can't sign any players. We're in the fertiliser. Plain and simple. We need to be realistic with who we can appoint at this stage of the game. I think Lampard and Jose would relish the challenge, and that's why we have to appoint either one of them (preferably Lampard), in my opinion.
  19. Personally, I'm sick to death with the way this club is being run. Do I like Sarri, personally? No, probably not. I don't think tactically speaking he's a good manager, however I do think he's been treated shabbily by the club. And we keep doing it again and again. Let's face it, we treat our managers badly. Period. I want consistency, I want a Klopp or Pep type figure at the club. And I honestly think this is our last chance to get stability, that's why I think our next choice of manager is so crucial. Given our position and options, I think we have to go for Lampard, simply for the fact I can actually buy that he could be here for the long haul and actually cares so much about Chelsea. Appointing Rafa would be madness for the simple fact we fans don't like him. At the end of the day, I'd argue this matters most, and that's also why I'm not completely against a Mourinho return. Yes, I know he's a grumpy sod now, but I still believe deep down he's one of the best managers in the world, and that he always did care about us even though his behaviour sometimes suggests otherwise. Chelsea and Jose are Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor in football form. Haha. So yeah, has to be Lampard or Jose for me. I won't readily accept anyone else.
  20. Talking about it now on Good Morning Britain. It's actually one of the top stories so I think people are realising just how serious this is.
  21. Been a long time since I posted on the forum, but I want to say a few things here. For me, these are the facts. 1. Toxic goings on. I don't know what's going on behind the scenes, but clearly things aren't exactly harmonious at the club. I'm not saying Conte has fallen out with the players, but it seems to me that they've stopped trying for him. Why? Because it's nailed on he's leaving, that's why. Why bother trying for a man whose days are numbered? This could be one way of looking at it, yes, but on the whole...these type of players who think like this are toxic and need dumping fast. That leads me to point two. 2. Many of the players aren't fit to wear the shirt. I've been saying it for a while but we do need a mass clear out in the summer. The quality isn't good enough (Cahill as our captain is a joke, to be honest), but more importantly...the passion is gone. I don't see Terry, Lampard or Drogba esque big figures. Ironically, one of the few guys who seemed to care and give 100% all the time has been loaned out (perhaps never to return). Michy Batshuayi. Absolute madness loaning him out. This leads me to point three. 3. The board are clueless. Conte has been treated like a joke by them and Roman. I used to look at Conte and see a good manager who cared about the club. Now...he's not the same anymore. The passion has gone, and I can't blame him. Anytime they've given him anything with one hand they've took with the other. I'm not saying Conte is blameless (some of his choices have been poor this season), but on the whole...he's been let down big time. He's been disrespected, and I do not blame him for walking out (which I'm sure he's going to do in the summer (if he lasts that long)). Well, that's everything. The whole club is lacking direction at the moment. At this rate, we're not gonna make top 4 and we're going to be spanked by Barca. Dark times ahead once again guys.
  22. No. It was set in the 01/02 and 02/03 seasons.
