Chelsea membership 'Friends and Family' exchange thread
Thank you guys, I've just exchanged details with a guy I work with (similar position to me, can only make a few games a year) but buzz, since my parents will want to go to some games too (ie I need 4 tickets!) I'd be very much up for that, if that's okay with you? If you're happy to go ahead PM me and we'll exchange membership numbers (I think you need Surname and Postcode too) My only concern would be if we wanted to go to the same game, you know? It shouldn't happen, especially with how rarely I'll be at the bridge, but say I bought tickets on your membership and you wanted to go, how would that work? Cheers again

Haha! Quedgeley, not Lydney! But it's funny you mention that since my mate at work just walked in who lives there :-) And please don't be silly, there was no misleading involved - you're just helping me get some of these elusive Chelsea tickets I've been after for bloody ages now! Will definitely go for the Swansea ones I think, seems like a perfect match to go to, and the return of Brendan and Scott to the bridge! ;) Yeah the Chepstow bus tour things they do are usually quite good, but the guy is a scouser so they almost exclusively do Liverpool trips now - my mate's been all over Europe with them!

Stadium Tour
Stadium tours plus lunch for £26 - http://www.chelseafc...2050775,00.html But how exactly do you book that? I can't see anything about the plus lunch thing for a tenner extra http://www.chelseafc...ge/StadiumTours (booked a hotel for London next weekend before the fixtures were announced, ah! this is the next best thing)

Best place to buy tickets in pairs
I live in Gloucestershire (heyyo!) so won't be able to get tickets from London unfortunately And thanks for the heads up on prices, but nope, when I add two tickets for the Norwhich game the price goes from £47 each to a grand total of £118 including fees, handling and VAT. That's for Norwhich!! And even then, I won't be able to get the two tickets cos I only have a single membership. Sorry to moan, but bloody hell! I've been to many away games and paid about £25 tops each time per ticket, and also found the tickets a lot easier to come by too. Not to mention even the coach trips I usually go on are cheaper, including transport than £118 for two people :o

Christ, just realised on ViaGoGo it adds additional fees taking it up to around £130 for just the two of us! O_o Also, it says on there you cannot order two tickets without two memberships. Sadly, I wish I hadn't spent that £25 on the mebership now. Don't see how people can so easily justify to spend these sorts of prices.

Chelsea membership 'Friends and Family' exchange thread
I thought it could be useful to have a thread where we could discuss these matters, and for example if anyone (with a decent enough postcount, and someone I considered trustworthy) wanted a ticket for a game I will gladly exchange membership details with them, so they can purchase on my behalf. As mentioned by yorkley, this will have to work on the basis that people of course behave themselves when purchasing tickets as another member (this goes without saying) but I'm also wondering if you exchange details like that, what happens if you purchase the ticket using the friends and family system, but that person also wanted a ticket for themselves? If there is a way around this issue (ie consent before each game) then I would like to gladly put myself forward as someone who will likely just go to a small handful of games each season, and would be happy for others to purchase using my membership if you need an extra ticket.

Chelsea vs Norwich (PL) 27/08/11 KO 1500 BST
Sad to see that many people are so quick to drop our best player over the last couple of games. Also agreed that the midfield needs mixing up a little, whether we bring in Josh, Yossi or Romeu, we need to make a change.

Revolution not evolution
Urgh, I hope these formation images aren't to become the norm - takes up so much space, and looks really bad on my computer screen at work :) I agree with all of the points you raise in the OP, but I feel leaving our Ramires would be a big mistake, his energy, work-rate, determination and desire are something we really need in the team

It's so depressing to see United play such good football with a young team. As Myles said too, Manchester City are also playing far more entertaining (and more effective) football than we are. I have a lot of faith in AVB, and I have a lot of faith in our squad - but sadly I feel a lot of catching up needs to be done.

Ah you're a star, thank you Kev! I really like the idea of that, and would definitely be well behaved - hopefully when I become a member someone from here wouldn't mind doing the friends and family thing (I'd only go to a handful of games, so I'd have a lot of spares too!) ViaGoGo looks good too, it's a nice idea that you can buy other member's tickets like that, quite surprised by the prices though, £47 per ticket for Norwhich?! O_o Surprises me people can afford that so easily, week in, week out!

That's great, many thanks yorkley! Will get on it and sort a membership then, probably pay for the CTV package too, since I sometimes get that through Sky, so would pay for itself then :-) Please pardon my stupidity, but could you please elaborate on this?

Quick bump, anyone, please? Tempted to become a member, but if I do that, would I need two memberships? Or could I buy two tickets for lesser games on one membership? Really not fussed on the level of matches we go to by the way, just I've only been to SB maybe 4/5 times now and want to double that over the next season or so :-)

Gary Cahill *UPDATED* *Now Signed*
Terry, Ivanovic, Luiz & Alex. I'm sorry, but I really don't see the urgency to get another CB back in... how many clubs (that don't have a bunch of CBs with chronic injury problems like Spurs) actually have more than 4 top centre backs? We're going to struggle enough to keep those four happy, never mind adding someone like Cahill into the mix.

Luka Modric
I'm sorry but I'm not sure I agree with this. I don't believe he is an out-and-out attacking winger (say, like Robben) who relies on great service and killer balls to be effective. I think Mata is clever enough, and has vision, creativity and technique which makes him more than capable of being the person that puts through those balls to the likes of Torres, Lukaku, Sturridge and Drogba. I'm not saying he's too similar to Modric, and I would absolutely love it if we signed Luka or someone like him, but I think it's a huge step in the right direction and believe even if we signed Mata and no one else, it's going to have a huge impact on our team for this season.

Best place to buy tickets in pairs
Hi all, I really want to go to a few home games this season (usually just go to the occasional away game, and often not in the Chelsea area due to lack of tickets! :@) but was wondering what the best way of getting a pair of tickets are? Preferably in the Shed lower or MHL for atmosphere reasons, but to be honest in my position I can't be fussy I guess! I know I probably should just become a club member, but that'll be around £70 for the two of us, and sadly I'm not sure we'd be able to go to enough games to justify that. Cheers

Cech Out
I really rate Hilario (especially as a backup keeper) and think the game against Man City (where admittedly he was utterly dreadful, almost to De Gea levels of dreadfulness) has clouded some people's judgement of him. He was great in pre-season too. On a side note, for those moaning about Cech being injury prone, how come he played 38 league games last season? Or 34 the season before? Or 35 the season before that? Missing 7 league games over the course of 3 seasons is not a trait of an injury prone player.

Showing (once again) that despite my blue tinted specs, Mourinho really is a bit of a c**t.

Chelsea vs West Brom (PL) 20/08/11 KO 1730 BST
Alex was our man of the match against Stoke, it frightens me that he's being linked with a move away and it baffles me that people would want him left out of the team against WBA. Based on the performances from the last game, I think Lampard, Kalou and Malouda unfortunately offered very little, and would pick Benayon, Anelka and Drogba respectively to replace them. Sturridge would fit straight into the team for me if he was fit, his pace, technique and massively improved drive & determination will hopefully make him one of the first names on the team sheet when he returns from suspension.
-
Name your wide man
It seems most people's thoughts on Sturridge are simply "Well, he can't be any worse than Kalouda, could he?" Sadly I do agree with those people, and despite Malouda showing flashes of brilliance he's simply inconsistent, and despite Kalou being one of my favourite Chelsea players ("He's just so sweet!" as my girlfriend would say) he is absolutely not good enough to be a regular starter in a team that is pushing for the Premier League title and the Champions League. Sturridge does have a lot going for him though, so it's not just a case of "Oh well, he'll do" - he has pace, amazing technique, and as demonstrated recently a lot of desire and the way he uses his body allows him to out-muscle people almost twice his size. He's probably our best current option for a wide player, but I think after seeing what we're up against in the form of David Silva, Ashley Young etc, we really need to strengthen this position if we're going to step from up challengers to champions.

Stoke City v Chelsea (PL) 14/08/11 KO 13:30 BST
Damn, completely forgot about this! Thought it was a rather harsh red too if I remember correctly, he jumped in a little, but it was in almost the 90th minute of the last game of the season and it wasn't overly reckless/dangerous... stupid, definitely, but a straight red it wasn't (imo)

Forum Update
... that shouldn't happen! Seriously can't think of a single reason why it'd do that? Have you tried a different web browser? Also open the run prompt (Windows key + R) and then type: ipconfig /flushdns All on one line. Might help, but probably wont.
