Dear Friends, It is that time of year again, heading into the final corner of the league season. And with it comes the annual LAST-11 Prediction Tournament, where the ShedEnd crowd pit their wits, and their luck, to see who comes out on top. This year, Chelsea's last eleven league matches (as they are currently scheduled) are: W.B.A. (H) FULHAM (A) WEST HAM (H) SOUTHAMPTON (A) SUNDERLAND (H) TOTTENHAM (H) LIVERPOOL (A) SWANSEA CITY (H) MAN UTD (A) ASTON VILLA (A) EVERTON (H) To participate, just post a reply to this message with your predictions for the 11 matches. For each match, if you get the exact score correct, you get 3 points (a win). If you correctly predict the result but not the score, you get 1 point (a draw), and if you do not get the result or the score correct, you get no points (a loss). For wins, your goal difference is zero, whereas for losses, the goal difference penalty is the margin of difference between predicted number of Chelsea goals and the actual number of goals scored by Chelsea in said match. This will be used to break ties in you are level on points. A standings table will be posted at the end of each match so you can see how you are doing. Of course, you will only receive points for matches you have sent in predictions before the match takes place. Ideally, I'd like to have all predictions for all matches in before our match with W.B.A. The defending champion is Arq, who last year beat Ballack & Blue on goal difference, talleying 12 points from 1 win, 9 draws and 1 defeat! When they were fit and on the pitch, and when Duffer had it in his head to beat players rather than keep possession, I thought the Robben + Duffer combination one of the most exciting and effective attacking combinations ever. I realize that is a lot of "ifs" and "whens", but they were part of what was probably one of the most exciting Chelsea attacks in the past 20 or so years I've supported Chelsea. But I do find it hard to compare them to the likes of Mata and Hazard, moreso our current number ten who is the fulcrum of our attacks. And there is much more to come from Eden Hazard - don't think he yet compares to Robben and Duffer at their prime for Chelsea. But just let me end by saying this: we fans are definitely blessed to be able to see the likes of these four players play for our beloved club. Cheers, Butch

I'm going to shock a few of the regulars, I think, when I say that I am not sure we should be so keen to usher Rafa Benitez out the door. I am well-cognizant of the fact Roman has his eye on Pep Guardiola, and while I cannot deny the lure of sexy football has its attraction, I do have my doubts about whether that can be achieved in the EPL. I certainly don't want us to become the English Barcelona - I hate them with a vengeance. And I think having to watch Pep strut along the Chelsea sidelines isn't going to be much different to seeing Benitez there at the moment. And if Pep cannot do it for us in, gulp, half a season, what then? We're running out of quality managers, and fast. Maybe Pep doesn't even fancy the high risk that comes with the Chelsea manager's position. I wasn't particularly enamored with Benitez during his time at Liverpool, that much must be said. His tiff with Jose, my all-time favorite, just made matters worse. However, I didn't particularly care what he said about us fans. I always felt it was "heat of the moment", and utter cow dung anyway. It never really stuck with me. If you're manager of Liverpool, that is the official line; there isn't much else you can say, and you just hope upon hope that people believe you have passionate, true-to-the-bone fans, while other club's are just plastics. It is so ridiculous as to be pathetic. Take him away from Liverpool and what do you have? A passion-less, but shrewd and methodological manager. He has the personality of Avram Grant, but the footballing pedigree of an Ancelotti or Mourinho. I am not entirely convinced we could do much better. The obvious problem is with the fans hatred of the man and the resultant negative atmosphere. If we can't get past this, I suppose it could be a problem. But I'm hoping that time will heal, and that cool heads will prevail, if Benitez can make us successful, that is. Of course if we continue to stumble at inopportune times and end up empty-handed, the writing would be on the wall. When you are starting at such a disadvantage, it is clear you have to really deliver the moon and stars in order to have a chance. If Pep is really available and interested, there would be no doubt who our manager would be next season. Clearly (and so I am not going to really bother complaining). Or if Jose made himself available and showed an interest in returning to Chelsea, there would still be the big hurdle of Roman's ego, but there might just be a possibility there as well (and I will praise Roman). However, failing these two options, I really hope we think long and hard about our remaining options. While we had not appointed anyone yet after Robbie, I was somewhat against us signing up Rafa, but now that he is here, I am somewhat interested to see what he can do. Dear Friends, As some of you know, part of the BPL competition is the Long Term Prediction, where you send in (about now, actually usually by the December 31st) your predictions for things that are settled by the end of the season (i.e. Long Term). Any bonus points you win from this competition are added to your points in the regular BPL table at the end of the season. As I have only received a few entries so far, I would like to invite everyone to send in your Long Term Predictions from now until the end of this month. Please keep in mind that you will not receive any points for competitions for which our interests have already ended at the time you send in your predictions (e.g. if we lose to Swansea in the SF of the League Cup before you send in your prediction, you will not receive any points for predicting Chelsea will at best reach the semifinals of the League Cup). Your Long Term prediction entries should include: 1. Where will Chelsea finish in the league this season? 2. How many wins will Chelsea get in the league this season? 3.
