Should? Will he is more like the question. I don't think it is much of a secret that Roman has coveted Pep for a while. I do hope upon hope, like many of you, that he understands that the sexy football played at Barca is highly dependent on their style of player. We clearly don't have those players at Chelsea. So, and this is a big if, particularly if you look at what happened with AVB, if Roman is adamant about getting his man he is going to need to show a lot of patience and support the new manager in the market). Neither of those things is particularly believable, the former because Roman is Roman and he simply has never shown himself to be patient, and the latter because of the Fair Play rules. I'm not sure I even want to talk about Pep to begin with; it would be showing such disdain towards RobbieD, who has simply not put a foot wrong since he came in as caretaker manager. I don't think I could have wished for anything more in my wildest dreams with regards to Chelsea overturning their fortunes and making a real fight for it on all fronts in this closing stretch of the season. FA Cup finalist. Champions League finalist. Just clobbered QPR to get within 1 point of Spurs and Newcastle in the battle for 4th place (with a vastly superior goal difference and a home game coming up against the Magpies). I don't know what more we could have asked of RobbieD. The players have obviously responded to him and that, at the very least, must be taken as a good sign. But that is just my own personal feeling, and I am well aware it means zilch in the grand scheme of things. I will just be thankful for how my Chelsea have turned things around and given me so much to be proud and happy about in this closing stretch to the season, one which I thought - and had already started being at one point - would peter out into nothingness and disappointment. Then, however things turn out in the close season, I will be back supporting this dear old club of mine. For better, or, yikes, worse. Cheers, Butch

I am excited by this signing: (a) reasonable fee - as a matter of fact, downright cheap for an international (even fringe international) (b) creative player - these types tend to be a little frustrating anyway - boil hot and cold - but this is exactly what our squad has been crying out for when we find it difficult to break teams down - also, this will likely turn out quite well for Torres © German - I am a firm believer in the German mentality; I am certain Marko will bring with him a lot of professionalism and never-say-die attitude and will work hard for us (d) age - the lad's only 23, so the potential for resale value if things don't work out well is quite good. If things do work out well, as I hope they do, he'll grow with the new Chelsea of the next few years. I really can't see a downside to this signing, keeping in mind how little we are paying for him and how much we need this sort of player. Delighted. Cheers, Butch

Barca's pitch is only 2 meters longer and 1 meter wider. The "their pitch is huge and conducive to them carving teams up with their slick passing" thing is just old wives' tales. Yet, they were good enough to carve us open on 4 occasions in the first leg at the Bridge, so I would expect they would be able to carve out 4-5 relatively good chances on their own home turf as well. The odds that all those chances are going to rebound off the woodwork or into the appreciative arms, or fingertips, of Cech are, to say the least, unlikely. I don't think we will squeeze through if we don't score tonight. The chances of that happening are rather slim. I think a draw is possible, but we'll need to ride our luck a bit. A scoring defeat is rather possible, and as long as we are within one of the Catalans, we will go through on goal difference, and this part means we need our forwards to take their likely rather few chances. I am so proud of the lads. That we go into this second leg with the lead, and are even in with a chance of an upset is simply beyond my expectations. As a matter of fact, the results since RobbieD took over have been surprising to say the least. The players must be running on pure adrenalin at the moment, after sapping performances at Wembley against Spurs, the Bridge against Barca and then at the Emirates against Le Arse. I don't see things changing much at the Camp Nou, so another 90 minutes of sapping football is in store for already tired souls. So, mistakes and yellow cards can almost be expected (rather worried about Meireles, in particular). These are the games the players dream about in the Champions League though. Why are we toiling away in the EPL season after season to finish in the top four if not for these occasions. Time to step up and deliver. Cheers, Butch

Clearly, on paper this is a mountain that is unlikely to be scaled. Football is not played on paper though, so where there is a will, there will be a way. If the Chelsea players need to be talked up for this, they should get a new job. If we are not more hungry for this than Barca are, there is something seriously wrong. Drogba, Kalou, Malouda, Essien, Mikel, Lampard, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole, Cech: this is likely the last chance for many of these players and the perfect chance for all (in a Blues shirt) to make a statement in this competition. When they have their heads screwed on right, they are still excellent players that can make things happen. During the Jose days, when Barca were similarly flying, there was one club that always stood up to them and gave them a game. Chelsea. We were labeled the enemies of football for a reason - we never stood down against Barcelona. The players I listed above know exactly what they have to do, how they have to play, to make things difficult for the Catalans. It may still not be enough; we've entered into these match-ups with better, fresher, more in-form sides and lost, but Barca know it is possible the right Chelsea takes the pitch in those two matches and hurts them. Let's get behind the team, for better or for worse, and see if they can do something almost none of us are expecting. It is situations like these where we tend to surprise ourselves. Cheers, Butch
