The referee in the Lille-Man.Utd game was a disgrace. He was heavy-handed from the start, yellow carding a Lille player in only the 2nd minute for a nothing challenge. Manure appeared to be getting away with a lot more than Lille, seemed to me the ref was definitely biased, or at best, incompetent. His incompetence was confirmed in the second half, when he disallowed a Lille goal for the slightest push, very harsh decision. Then not long after, he gave Manure a free-kick, let Giggs take it quickly a la Henry against us. The Lille players went mental, and their coach waved his players off the pitch. It looked very much as if he was trying to get them to walk off and get the game abandoned, but he saw sense and the game continued. Even so, I should imagine Lille will get severely punished by UEFA. The incident sparked off the crowd who started throwing dozens of missiles onto the pitch - sadly none of them hit a Manure player All of this, because of one man - the ref really was a tw*t.

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier, I was out looking for daffodils. So, Loz has grassed me up then? Well, I may as well come clean - last night I had some kind of mental breakdown as I listened to a copy of "The Queen Is Dead". Before I could stop myself I was on e-Bay bidding for three (three!!!!) Smiths CD's .Realising that I was in serious trouble, I took myself off to bed in the hope that I'd be back to normal in the morning, and listening to decent music again........ ::WhyMe:: Upon awakening this morning I marvelled at the sheer horror of the nightmare I'd had, and thanked my lucky stars that was all it was. Once I'd got my PC warmed up (it needs EasyStart these cold mornings), imagine how I felt when I accessed my e-mails only to find that I was still the highest bidder for such items as "Meat Is Murder", "The Smiths" and "Hatful Of Hollow". I went out for a walk to contemplate the obviously hideous future that awaits me, only to find upon my return that some total git had outbid me for "Meat Is Murder". Despite my relief that maybe there was a God after all, I found myself making another bid, and then ten minutes later I got confirmation that I'd won the sodding thing And to make matters even worse (not possible, I hear you sob), the dastardly Loz sent me some Morrissey solo tracks to check out. I'm listening to them even as I type........and, yes, I actually like most of 'em. The end is clearly nigh.........if I don't post for a while, don't worry, I'll be quite happy sitting in a padded cell somewhere.........

I loved Joe Jackson's first two albums, "I'm The Man" and "Look Sharp!", really great songs on those. Unfortunately for the purposes of this thread, they were released in 1979. See! I told you lot that the 70's were best

If I had to pick a song that makes my skin crawl at 80s retro nights it would always be 'Come on Eileen' I made it my mission to search the globe for someone who hates this song as much as I do so that I could be reassured in the knowledge that I am not just a tasteless freak - sadly I have not found anyone yet! Oh, all right I've gone through my music collection to see if there was actually any decent music in the 80's. There must have been, how else could I have got through the decade? I was quite surprised to find that there was indeed some good music around: - The start of the decade saw AC/DC bring out the "Back In Black" album, despite the recent death of lead vocalist Bon Scott. Brilliant album, but I much preferred Bon to replacement Brian Johnson. In actual fact, there was some great heavy rock around in the 80's (though of course, not as good as the stuff in the 70's) Bands like Blackfoot, Ozzy Osbourne, Def Leppard, Saxon, Scorpions, Gillan, Iron Maiden, MSG, Y & T, Spider & Whitesnake brought out some excellent albums. Although Mot?rhead started life in the 70's, and did some great stuff back then, arguably their best album, "Ace Of Spades", came out in 1980. ZZ Top had been around for well over ten years when they achieved their biggest commercial success with the album "Eliminator". And who can forget the videos of 'Legs', 'Sharp Dressed Man' & 'Gimme All Your Lovin''? Dire Straits started in the 70's, but my favourite albums of theirs were from the 80's - "Love Over Gold" & "Brothers In Arms". Another great 80's album was Jim Steinman's "Bad For Good", and I quite liked some of Rose Tattoo's stuff. Roger Chapman (ex Family) really got his solo career rolling, and George Thorogood & The Destroyers emerged. Pat Benatar made rock sexy again, while Roger Waters said 'f*ck ya' to Pink Floyd and embarked on an excellent solo career. Floyd replied 'b*llocks, Roger', and released "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason". Speaking of sexy, anyone else remember those Robert Palmer videos? Other than the heavy rock stuff, I struggled to find anything worth mentioning, but I stuck at it and came up with The Pretenders, Talking Heads, Men At Work, Prince, Style Council & Dexy's Midnight Runners. I also liked The Human League, possibly because I fancied the female singers Of course, they couldn't hold a candle to Altered Images, who I liked merely because I was in love with Clare Grogan Sadly, decent soul music was all but a memory, and reggae was changing in a big way - needless to say, I preferred the old style reggae & ska But there was the occasional jewel released, such as Peter Tosh's "Wanted: Dread And Alive" & "Mama Africa", and Gregory Isaacs' "Night Nurse". Towards the end of the decade there were a few promising artists emerging, such as Tracy Chapman, Michelle Shocked & Tanita Tikaram, but generally the music of the 80's was getting worse. One exception I can think of is Steve Earle, who brought out "Guitar Town", "Exit 0" & the brilliant "Copperhead Road". And Roy Orbison made a brief comeback before he died, releasing the excellent album "Mystery Girl". Other than those I've mentioned, it was all utter crap! - and most of it was pretentious crap, which is even worse!

Now then - instead of recalling your drug-induced memories of Adam Ant and his ilk, treat yourselves to half an hour of great music this evening on BBC4 at 8:30. Yes, the wonderful BBC are actually going to show half an hour of AC/DC live at Essex University, recorded in 1977 (so obviously the legend that is Bon Scott will be featured) Naturally, being me, that's not bloody good enough! Just 30 minutes??? Why can't they show the whole concert??? Bloody BBC, whoever makes these decisions needs a good beating ps - I apologise for the excessive use of emoticons in this post, but society is to blame.........

Branding and marketing are all very well, but a good businessman learns from his mistakes. This season's pre-season preparation was a total f*ck-up, but they don't bleedin' learn. So this summer, instead of the team preparing for a new season they'll be playing meaningless matches thousands of miles away - f*ckin' wonderful
