FIFA Club World Cup 2025 - Chelsea are in!
I heard they use Trivago. It is their secret tactic!

Andrey Santos Signs for Chelsea
Hopefully he gets more minutes and starts to bed in the side. Great future ahead of him..

Good reply. Just not sure how to measure poor. If you isolate a season where City and Liverpool battled it out finishing one point apart both finishing with record points total that constitutes a two team dominance. If there was a third team it would count in 3 dominating teams. Not sure if that is any better than very tight fight to CL places where 7 teams fought for that last spot till the end. Not sure but this might have showcased a season where the quality was broadly spread out between clubs. I think for a neutral that is the best possible outcome. Anyway I think it is a matter of view

When people started talking we'll face Bayern I started to like the idea of it. Not really a logical answer to it more if a feeling side. Winning Bayern will give fans and the squad much more than Benfica I feel as a solitary game. And if we lose to Benfica this place will be a cesspit until the next game. 😅 Anyway I like our path to SF naturally after all the results.

Left side looks favourable. Being said that Benfica is no walk in the park. So no reason to look into these too much.

Not 100% sure this was the poorest PL's. On surface probably yes. Rodri's injury and Arsenal not having a deadly striker are the clear surface level things but otherwise I saw some underdogs rise the table such as Nottingham. MU and Tottenham dropped also. Not sure how you fit them in this. How you view poor is probably the key here. What is the perspective and the metrics in that? I haven't looked into it one bit to be fair. I like to see the season as a relative success and Enzo has his part in it. I also like he is assertive in certain things. He has laid some groundwork for the young team and his personality seems to fit the current squad. I think someone like Tuchel as a coach and person are probably not the perfect for the squad. Enzo is far from perfect and still a bit wet behind the ears as long as coaches go but I think he's merited to continue and hopefully he learns and listens to smarter people than he is and takes that into his job. If we had an experienced squad like we used to have Enzo would not be the coach behind the bench.

He is alright then! Brazilian KDH is what we are after. Average player with Brazilian passport. 😅

Good win! Job done. Great for Delap to get his first goal. Santos got some minutes... So we face Benfica then? Would have preferred Bayern from the two but it should be a good game.

'Should' is different than actual football being played on the pitch. What were Botafogos chances of winning PSG?

On that ranking I posted (take it how you want) Tunis is around the level of LA FC. Not sure how close it is but personally I trust that ranking more than "never heard of them" as is spouted around in the media and here as well. We are well over the level of them in many ways I agree but Tunis really really want to win and they won LA which we won but didn't really smash. So it is not a walk in the park especially at 40 degrees. Tunis is probably much more acclimatized to this weather. We also have new players in the lineup. No matter how talented and or expensive. Enzo said he will rotate. That brings another uncertainty. We should win this game but I am not so sure. We are not that Chelsea from Roman era. That is the point.

Some humility and grasp of realism is fine don't you think? Expectations on matches like Palmeiras would do a ton of good. It was only a couple days ago or have you completely forgotten it?

Well you need to see on how the points accumulate. That has to be taken into consideration. We are also in this CWC comp after winning the CL 2021 and something pretty major has happened since to the club. BUT the rankings are not complete waste of time. The clubs are probably thereabouts. Tunis and LA are thereabouts so you can correlate their on pitch performance/level to see are we going to be the clear favourite or is there a match there. Auckland was around 5000. so that was pretty accurate. I am pretty sure most English footballing people/media completely dismissed how good Flamengo is or Botafogo are. Just that dismissive idea, we are from England and millions this, millions that, most expensive squad and so on blah blah blah.. football is still played on the pitch. One good thing about this tournament is we actually have to face top South American sides to measure us against them. Looks like they are both alright and pretty excited to face European sides.

Beat Bayern and we might face Estevao. Would be epic.

ES Tunis vs Chelsea (CWC) Wed 25th June 2025 02:00 GMT
I am fine with facing Bayern. We are massive underdogs there and we haven't really been able to win a truly top side in this Boehly era so this is another chance. Win the game and the young side will get a massive boost for the season ahead. Losing to a lower side is much worse IMO.

ES Tunis vs Chelsea (CWC) Wed 25th June 2025 02:00 GMT
I just checked this list of world club rankings https://iffhs.com/posts/4365. There Flamengo is 14., Chelsea is 17., ES Tunis is 185. and LA FC is 194....so according to that ranking this table is spot on. Only chance of anomaly would come if we lost to Tunis. Anyway...Not sure if people look at these, trust them or find any use of them but it seems to go as planned 😄

Enzo confirmed he will rotate here. So maybe we'll see the likes of Santos play. Anyway I don't think this will be easy at all. Gladly draw will suffice. The temperature will be around 40 or so and Tunis is no pushover. Hoping for Delaps debut goal

Conor starting for Atletico in a game they need to win Botafogo with 3 goal margin to go through...not an easy task. The temperatures in US are horrible.

He isn't a big signing? The lad is supposed to lead the line for us? A ton of trust is put into him.

A) Yet Delap might be a perfect signing for us. I think we won't buy experience if it is the wrong kind so to say. Maignan's personality was seen a positive one. My reason (read: excuse) for this is if we bring a bad apple who is a bit older to the group let's say Osimhen, things could go sideways. I personally don't know Vic although I call him by his probable calling name (just to be absolutely clear) he naturally gains the elder/leader of the group status such as Tosin has done being only a couple of years older than most players. At those 18-25 years I remember every year mattered. This is why we need to be very careful with the personalities of the players as well. Osimhen and Gyokeres would automatically be leaders by age. Do they fit that leadership mould? Don't know. Again doesn't apply to all players and personalities but a consideration. So this idea in mind (which is my own idea and opinion) I think we will either find the right type of young player/players for the marquee-bracket or a good leader type like Maignan clearly is. I think those defensive roles in that regard fits better for that leadership role. B) I see what you did there. Clever trick. Points to you, mate.

We did well with Delaps deal, no? Prefer it was 100m so you could slate him for every small mistake?' I felt I wrote no excuses. I call them reasons. I see you hate Maresca with passion. It might cloud your judgement on things. Not saying it does just a feeling...
