Is anyone really shocked about that VAR decision? Like really? We’ve had so many appalling decisions against us since Mourinho was in charge second time round.

Good performance, need a striker. Same old players turning up delivering dross performances.

Hudson Odoi starts, no Morata apparently.

Eden Hazard - Chelsea Legend
Been saying this for ages. I agree with you. Spurs are basically Madrid's feeder club so it wouldn't surprise me if they went for him. Eriksen is world class. Seems strange though as his strongest position doesn't seem to be on the left. Madrid need wingers and strikers, they already have Isco & James centrally.

Callum Hudson-Odoi
Maldini was quick until his age caught up with him. He just wasn't your traditional left back so he looked slower when in actual fact, he was reasonably quick for his size. In which sense is he not a liability, Yorkley? Opposition wingers purposely target him as they know he hasn't got the pace to catch them, he's also obscenely slow to overlap. I'm no body language expert but if you watch the way Hazard reacts to him, it suggests that Eden isn't all too happy with his performances either but that can't be confirmed nor denied. I feel like a lot of love for Alonso, similar to Willian comes to the fact one scored two important goals against Spurs whilst the other ditched them at the last minute in a transfer. Both have been resoundingly poor this season. Anyways, I don't watch to stray off topic. Let's hope that Callum starts tomorrow.

Callum Hudson-Odoi
Whilst Emerson may not be the answer, Alonso isn't good enough. He simply doesn't have enough pace for a fullback which is a pre-requesite of that position. Every top left back in world football has pace in abundance. Sandro, Alba, Marcelo, Alaba, Robertson, Telles, Mendy etc...

We can't afford to lose Hudson Odoi.

Once again, missed so many good chances. Should be 3-0 up but we're not clinical.

Very nice team.
-
Alvaro Morata
A couple of journalists on twitter have said he wants the move so I was only going by what they say, apologies.
-
Alvaro Morata
Sevilla Director Joaquin Caparros when questioned about their interest in Alvaro Morata - “We are working on many names. The important thing is that the player wants to come to Sevilla”. Thank god, he's leaving.
-
Marcos Alonso
Agreed, cannot wait to see him out of the team.

Officials sicken me.

Vast majority of the team have been dire. Hazard looks tired. Less said about Barkley & Morata, the better.
-
Willian
So you think that one of our three attackers is not in the team to score goals? Because he only has 3 assists in the league as well so what is his actual role within the team?
-
Chelsea v Southampton (PL) Wed 2nd Jan 19:45
Kepa Azpi Rudiger Luiz Emerson Kante Jorginho Kovacic Ruben Eden Willian 2-1 Chelsea.
-
Willian
Players with more goals than Willian in the league this season: N’golo Kanté, Shane Duffy, Callum Paterson, Ashley Barnes, Lucas Digne, James Tarkowski, Matt Doherty, Jose Holebas & Jeff Schlupp. Regardless of what your opinion is of Willian, that isn't acceptable for a player starting in a top team pretty much every game. Most of the players that I've listed are defenders for mid/lower table sides.

How would you rate Sarri's first half of the season in charge?
To be fair, I don't blame him after watching some of Alonso, Morata and Willian's performances recently. I don't even smoke and they've got me contemplating 40 a day due to the stress of watching them.
-
How would you rate Sarri's first half of the season in charge?
Only reason I didn't pick the no top striker is I limited this to just Sarri himself rather than just the team. It's not his fault that we don't have a top class striker so I thought it would be harsh to judge him on that but I would agree with the point that we lack a top striker.

How would you rate Sarri's first half of the season in charge?
I would give him a solid 7. Changing from a pragmatic style to a possession based attacking style is not easy. Quite a few of the personnel we have in the team are a little limited and aren't cut out to play in this type of way but I've seen glimpses of what we can be under Maurizio Sarri. Positives - Eden Hazard's increase in assists and goals. I've always insisted that once we get an attacking manager, that his goals and assists would rack up and now he's the top goal contributor in the league. If he had some decent attackers next to him, he could easily have 5/6 more. - Wins over Manchester City and Liverpool. Only team in England that has done that. - Playing the ball out from the back. It was much better against Watford and you can see exactly what Sarri wants us to do. Gets the opposition to press and then Jorginho finds the ball through to Kovacic/Kante to supply the counter attack. - Won our EL group with ease, still in the League Cup and in a Champions League spot. - Chances created. Only City have created more chances than us in the league this season, we've created vastly more than Spurs & Liverpool. This is not Sarri's fault, more the players we have in attack not taking their chances. Negatives - Losses against Leicester and Wolves were particularly poor. Wasted plenty of chances (not Sarri's fault) but overall the game against Leicester was languid and boring. - Picking out of form players. Willian and Alonso should be nowhere near the Chelsea team, they're not good enough and this season shows that. Willian has two goals, not good enough. No wonder we're over reliant on Hazard. - Not trusting youth. I feel like CHO and Ampadu could have been given more of a chance but this seems to be a common trend with every manager we have. Thoughts?

Eden Hazard - Chelsea Legend
Second best player in the world. Love him.
-
Higuain
I imagine they'll be something in his contract which allows it to be terminated.

Watford V Chelsea (PL) Wed 26th Dec 19:30 UK
It's so crazy that it has 12 players!
-
Higuain
An 18 month loan would be a good deal. He can still finish and his link up under Sarri at Napoli was incredibly good. He broke the 60 year long record for Serie A goals. However, that was three years ago and he seems to be in a bit of a decline.
-
Will we sign a striker?
Both. He's one of the best strikers in the world and one of the few available under the age of 30.
