MIght be unpopular but I'd say a lot of the problems stem from Roman. Yes, without him we wouldn't be where we are today and whilst I love the fact that our club is now regularly battling at the top end of the table, I can't help think that his rash hiring and firing of managers and his desire to be close to the players by letting them use his yacht and having meetings with the players behinds managers backs have developed this horrible culture whereby the players genuinely think they're in charge and the manager (whoever it is this year) is just a puppet.
The old guard of Drogba, Terry, Cole and Lampard need to be eased out IMO. In all honesty, these players are in their twilight years now anyway and we should be looking to the future. Whether AVB is the answer, I don't know but a manager needs to have 2-3 years to stamp his mark on a team and you cannot change a squad overnight.
I'm not a fan of AVB BUT if he goes, we'll bring in another newbie who will immediately have to be mates with the old guard or face their wrath. Then we'll all be on here again in 2013 repeating the same threads.
