Could be the case Evissy that United basically ask us to cover their cost of signing Cesc as Rooney's replacement, as opposed to Liverpool who wanted a decent profit from the Torres-Carroll deals. Just that, since United tend to be rather ruthless in their business dealings I would not be surprised if they want a profit as well.

This smacks a little bit like the Torres and Carroll situation we were in when we signed Fernando. We had to cover the cost of Liverpool signing a replacement, plus an extra on top of 15mill, which Liverpool later conformed was how it was structured, i.e. if Carroll had cost only 15mill we would have paid 30mill for Torres. United might end up doing the same here. "Rooney will cost you 20mill, plus whatever it costs us to sign Cesc". Could end up in the 50mill region again.

Do not agree with that necessarily, depth wise it would be good, but RvP, followed by Hernandez then Welbeck as the second and third choices up top, then Kagawa as the main second striker option, seems enough depth to me. Of course if they have a chance to add any of the players you mentioned they would be foolish not too.

Rather childish this all is. United seem to see it as we are trying to mess with the head of one of their players so they try and do the same in return to two of our key ones. Does not seem like Barca or Real want Rooney, so just leaves ourselves and Arsenal unless the French sides decided to get involved.

What has Football Manager got to do with anything? Last I had read they had that clause but, since I am not privy to the goings on at the club in such matters, was not sure whether that remained the case. Do not know what Hazard or Torres get paid either, just that Torres earnings are referred to as an Albatross around our clubs neck.
