He could be like Marin, player of much potential just sidelined by constant injuries. Really if there is no real quality out there then we should save our money. We do not need to sign just for the sake of signing.

Though to be fair if he does head for Barca this summer Torres leaves with Europa League, Fa cup and Champions League medals to his name. While he has not been great and many of us would be happy to see him leave, end of the day we have done pretty darn good while he has been here.

We may be out of the race, or lack there of, to sign Cavani then. If we cannot sign anybody good may well be Lukaku does get his chance next season.

Ba reminds me of Emerson Thome, in the sense that he was cheap, decent, had premier league experience and would do the job until we brought in who we really wanted. Now while most of us would sooner see Torres depart the realist in me sees that nobody Torres would like to play for would match his salary with us and those that would match his salary he would not want to join, for example Russian sides. Ba on the other hand is still seen as a guy who would not cost the earth in fee or salary and sides would want to buy, and I would sooner he goes than have one more guy in Lukaku's way. Still though if we do not sign a striker this summer then adding Lukaku gives us the right amount of forwards and there would be no need to sell anybody.

You know the more I think about these recent forward links (that probably will not all be true) the more I am thinking Jose may take us back to 4-3-3. If you think about it, in that system Mata and Oscar are more likely to drop in to the midfield 3 leaving the wide options, as things stand, to be Hazard, Moses and maybe KdB. If Cavani, Hulk, Jovetic and Schurrle all sign for us we would end up like the old `2 players for each position` we had before with Jose: Cech/New back up/Blackman Azpi/Brana-Luiz/?-JT/Cahill-Cole/Betrand Mikel/Essien Oscar/Ramires - Lampard/Mata Hulk/Schurrle - Hazard/Moses Cavani/Jovetic/Torres Leaving 3 extra squad places JT and Bertrand Chelsea trained, Blackman may have been long enough to be that category too. Cahill, Lampard, Cole and Moses all English club trained. Meaning we could 1 or 2 more players to that if Blackman qualifies as Chelsea home grown now.

Well we could get Shaktar and Juve again but a group of death for any of the top seeds getting PSG, Atletico and Napoli would be a pretty tough group to come out of. But since us and City tend to get the hardest groups in the draw could see it going something like: Chelsea Shakatar Dortmund Anderlecht Bayern PSG Man City Napoli Man United CSKA Ajax BATE ;)
