David Luiz - Defense or midfield
Looking at the format of the post, it looks suspiciously like the text has been copied and pasted from a website. Passing off others opinions as your own? Reminds me of the Paul Whitehouse character from the Fast Show that agrees with whoever he heard speak last :)

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
From what I've seen this season so far, Torres seems to be on some kind of form, but are we always going to be hypercritical? He's looked about as sharp this year as he has since joining us (even so, still no sign of prolific league goal scoring), but I sometimes feel that there's too much water under the Bridge (pardon the obvious....) and we will always be looking for mistakes in his game. All players make mistakes, but you tend to cut them a bit of slack when it's not overly persistant. I'm just not sure how to evaluate Torres as there have been flashes of moments when he's recently looked back to his best, but it's interspersed with poor control and a touch of headless chicken impressions, but maybe there was always that element to his game, just not as often. Winston Churchill's quotation, made in a radio broadcast in October 1939: "I cannot forecast to you the action of Fernando Torres. He is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma; but perhaps there is a key. That key could be Jose Mourinho."

Thank You Mr Roman Abramovich
I think Roman is taking the Salvador Dali train of thought. Dali filled his mouth with stones, purely for the enjoyment and pleasure of taking them out 24 hours later. I like to think Mr Abramovich employed the FSW in order to make the joy of our special one coming back all the greater. Well done comrade, fine psychological tact there!

Plausible?? Granville starting?

Ah OK! Stick him in nets then

Guess the line-up
What a ridiculous response. Please at least try to take this thread seriously. Jose would never play Clarke in the middle, he'd have him in his natural right hand side berth

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
It is true to say that a successful striker can get by just being good for a few minutes in a game, such is the nature of the position. Jimmy Greaves is the epitome of this theory, he would do very little for 80 minutes and then tear the defence apart and win the game with 2 or 3 goals. This does NOT excuse Torres's poor form. To get away with this "few minutes" idea, you need to have those minutes in every game, not every month or two. The difference is: Torres Apps 116 Goals 28 Greaves Apps 169 Goals 132 It's actually quite embarrassing writing those two players stats next to each other, it speaks volumes

De Bruyne and £30m for Shurrle
Sorry! With my poor attention to detail, inaccurate headline writing and over sensationalism, I think a career with the Tabloid press beckons
-
De Bruyne and £30m for Shurrle
I must admit, on reflection it does smack of poor journalism and jumping on the Chelsea band wagon. De Bruyne has been a hit in Germany and Chelsea were linked with Shurrle last summer......so obviously 1 + 1 =

De Bruyne and £30m for Shurrle
Sorry, misread the headline through my anger....it actually says "player-plus-cash for £30 million rated German star!" But nevertheless, the gist of it is the same. De Bruyne plus cash for Shurrle. I'm not happy about this.

De Bruyne and £30m for Shurrle
http://miusoccer.com/chelsea-to-make-player-plus-cash-for-30-million-rated-german-star/10068 Can anyone shed (pardon the pun) any light on this? I always hoped De Bruyne was going to be a big player for us in the next couple of seasons, but this report suggests otherwise. Shurrle looks a decent prospect too, but it would be a shame to sell the likes of De Bruyne and Courtois with them never playing for the club. Personally I'd rather give him a season with us before making any decision.

The Rafa Benitez Thread (merged)
Under FSW, at 2-0 up we're far from safe. Under Jose, at 1-0 up the game was won.

Apathy
Of course I share your concern and am disappointed with how many things have been handled by the club, but are you telling me that's reason to lose interest in your club? People are talking here as if we are in a relegation battle or have nothing to play for. We're still in 4 competitions including half a league season, and people are already saying they want the season over. As a kid I dreamed about being in the semi final of the league cup or going on a european adventure, but I guess we've been spoilt and too many blues fans are taking for granted our recent success. Clearly the comment about the Manchester clubs is a flippant shot at those who seem to be forgetting where we came from or just plainly don't know our history. It's not case of being excited about the chase for trophies, it's about the anticipation of a blues game whether it be fighting relegation from the old second division or whether a CL final - either way to show apathy for the entire season is rather a sad state of affairs. There's always something to be enthused about with Chelsea. When AVB was sacked last season, things looked pretty dire and look what happened there. This season we could become the first British club to win all 3 major European trophies - admittedly I wouldn't put my house on it, but why be so negative and down on the club? It's one thing to criticize the actions of the club - us fans must hold the club accountable when necessary - but to give up on the lads for the rest of the season is bad form.

Apathy
I could never be apathetic about our beloved Chelsea. From the depths of avoiding relegation to the third tier in 83, relegation from the top flight in 88 and years of average to poor football, to the highs of the Cup in 97, the title in 2005 and the CL last year - not once have I not got excited and hopeful about our next game. I admit, fearful at times, but the love and passion for Chelsea never dwindles and never could. Current European Champions and FA Cup winners, a squad dripping with world class talent, a billionaire owner, still alive in 4 competitions in January and people are apathetic?? There are a couple of clubs in Manchester doing quite well if that's all you're in it for. Seriously people count your blessings not your problems and the world is a better place Forever a Blue

Nathaniel Chalobah from watford fan
Chalobah is staying at Watford for the season http://www.sportinglife.com/football/transfer-centre/article/4/8378313/watford-keep-hold-of-chalobah Really pleased to hear this. He's doing really well and developing into a quality player. Glad the club saw fit to continue his education in this manner

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
That's why I said relatively happy. No striker worth his salt will ever be happy spending more time on the bench than the pitch, however Dzeko for example, has voiced his concerns about not starting, but he's not causing dressing room unrest and is scoring goals when he plays. Balotelli never seems completely happy regardless of whether he's playing or not. The fact is though, they are still trying to get into the starting XI and know they will get chances and if they hit form they will be used more. At the Bridge we don't have any of these options. They all seem happier than Torres when he's off form
-
Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
I've supported Torres and I've also criticised him when appropriate, but it seems to me there are two ways of looking at the situation 1) Man United and City have 4 good strikers each and generally now manage to keep them all relatively happy, yet we only have one decent striker and we can't even keep him happy. 2) The fact that we only have one striker is why we can't keep anyone happy with the situation. Torres has actually had a couple of purple patches this season and has looked quite sharp from time to time. But then he has a drop in form and goes on a barren run. At City or Utd, they can give that striker who's lost form, a rest as they can bring in one of the other 3 to change things and freshen things up a bit. We can't do that, we have to persist with a striker out of form and just wait until he rediscovers his form again (which in fairness he invariably does). The problem is, that we have to keep him in the team when he's off form meaning his poor performances are magnified to such an extent that the good things he's done are overlooked again (and understandably as football lives in the moment). If we had another couple of strikers to unload the burden, the likelihood is that Torres's drops in form wouldn't be so painfully obvious or have such a detrimental effect on the team as a whole. In short, we need at least 2 quality strikers this mont, NOT to replace Torres, moreover to support/compliment/compete for a place with him. I just hope he has the character to thrive when his position is under pressure. He didn't thrive with Didier breathing down his neck, but perhaps he's a bit more settled now, who knows. Time will tell

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
I've supported him and stuck up for him in the past. But seriously, how can anyone still think Torres deserves to wear a Chelsea shirt? I'm sick of him and the sooner he's gone, the better. He's becoming an embarrassment to our great club
