Can anyone shed (pardon the pun) any light on this? I always hoped De Bruyne was going to be a big player for us in the next couple of seasons, but this report suggests otherwise. Shurrle looks a decent prospect too, but it would be a shame to sell the likes of De Bruyne and Courtois with them never playing for the club. Personally I'd rather give him a season with us before making any decision.

De Bruyne plus £30m?

Never going to happen.

De Bruyne after a largely successful season in Germany is going to be worth between £15-£20m now making the value of this deal £40m+ which doesn't add up.

I'm fairly sure the fee in the summer which was mooted for Shurrle was in the region of £24m, no way has his value increased.

To surmise:

This article is gibberish.

Sorry, misread the headline through my anger....it actually says "player-plus-cash for £30 million rated German star!"

But nevertheless, the gist of it is the same. De Bruyne plus cash for Shurrle. I'm not happy about this.

I must admit, on reflection it does smack of poor journalism and jumping on the Chelsea band wagon.

De Bruyne has been a hit in Germany and Chelsea were linked with Shurrle last summer......so obviously 1 + 1 =

This needs to be in the rumour section. I almost had a heart attack when I saw it in the General section!!!

Sorry! With my poor attention to detail, inaccurate headline writing and over sensationalism, I think a career with the Tabloid press beckons

If this is true, and it's a big if, i would be very annoyed with Chelsea for ignoring De Bruyne's progress since he went on loan. He has been very good at times and is improving, why bother putting these players out on loan if we ain't even going to monitor their progress ?

Like i said though it's a big if. Also in a recent interview Ron Gourley said we would be bringing some of our on loan players back, i expect De Bruyne to be one of the players returning.

Why spend £30m+ replacing Lampard at the end of the season when De Bruyne can return to the club?

Not saying De Bruyne is on Lampard's level (yet) but just agreeing with your logic.

I think Reus and Gotze are better players than Schurrle.

Much better, they are the best German prospect in my mind. Granted I don't watch Bundesliga every week.

I wouldn't mind us getting Julian Draxler over Shurrle either, but there are other areas that needs improving first and De Bruyne should be given a chance.

I didn't click on the article, so excuse me if I am asking a silly question, but does it actually say KDB is the player being involved?  What if it was Marin (less likely to make it at Chelsea) plus cash totaling up to $30M, as in player + cash = $30

Well that's a given, but we'd never be able to get them.

De Bruyne is as good a player as Schurrle, and a better central midfielder.
