Brilliant news if its true.. he was fantastic last night and we should keep him at all costs. If we also get Hazard tied down to a new deal, i might just stay in the pub from friday through sunday to celebrate!

I see these sorts of criticisms aimed at quite a few of our players. 
Cahill is seen as a poor defender, Alonso wasn't deemed good enough for large portions of the season. Costa apparently was useless for half the season. (All of which scrutinised for having massive weakness to their game such as lack of pace, poor first touch etc.).
And yet, despite a third of the outfield players being nigh on useless, we somehow managed to romp home to a very convincing title win... 
I just wonder, at what point do we acknowledge that these players did a good job this season? Yes they may be sold or replaced in the team but this narrative that they are a detriment to the team is a bizarre one to me.

ShiningLight is genuinely a horrendous poster. The only time he (she?) seems to post is when his alt account has been banned, and he only seems to look like he's put in a decent performance because his competition on the same forum are posting terribly.

The guy is a machine. A freak of nature. I have rarely if ever seen a player who covers that much ground, closes down opponents, wins the ball so well, retains the ball so well and supports his team mates so well. His positional play and reading of the game is truly superb. And he does it practically every single game.
I pity those that can't see what a dynamic he brings to our team. Those that only see the Panini sticker description of Willian as an "attacking midfielder" are missing the point of his effectiveness and the job he does for Mourinho completely.
I say again, I love Willian.

Have been his biggest critic but got to judge him on current form and right now we are a better team when he plays.

I've always thought Mikel was/is good enough for Chelsea and I stand by that statement. He's not one of the best DMs in the world obviously, but the only reason for that is consistency, or (like the majority of our players) lack thereof.
 
What people don't realize is that it isn't just Mikel. A lot of our players have a run of brilliant games followed by a run of below par performances.
 
Last season, Lamps was crucial for us in many ways. Same can be said about the season we won in Munich. Now all of a sudden, because he's going through a rough patch, along with the rest of the team, he needs to be replaced ASAP, according to some. Now I'm not saying he should continue to start for us week in week out, but we all know that soon enough he is going to find some form, and when he does, he's going to be crucial for us once again. It happens every season. The only thing missing is consistency. Same goes for Mikel and all the rest of our players (bar JT as he has been brilliant all season).
 
The way people talk about Mikel makes it seem like our team is playing brilliant football at the moment, and the only thing coming in the way of it is Mikel. When we won every game in October, I didn't hear anybody bitch and moan about Mikel, Lampard or Mourinho.
 
When we won the double with Carlo, Mikel was almost always one of the first names on the team sheet. When we beat Bayern in their own backyard, Mikel produced a MOTM performance. Same can be said when he came on against Man Utd in the FA cup last season, when we were 2 nil down, only to almost clinch it and win 3-2- at the very end. Mikel was a major part of that comeback IMO, as was Hazard obviously. What about when we were literally two seconds away from beating the best team in the world at the moment in the Supercup. Wait a minute, was it a Ramires/Lampard partnership? But I thought that was a terrible partnership that never ever works.
 
The only way I would see it as fair to blame Mikel (or any other player for that matter) is if it is clear that said player's performances are not up to what the rest of the team are putting out.
 
When the team just aren't up to it collectively, it is totally unfair to point fingers, IMO.
