I don't disagree with any of that Eggy. I really hope we land Rooney. All I'm saying is that I think if we are signing players of Willians quality, there are other positions we could fill outside of AM first and that as far as Eto goes, at 32 and surely to command a high salary and at least a two year contract it's a step backwards in transfer policy and squad development, especially when considering the sort of strikers that have come to the PL already this summer.

I've got nothing against the lad, he's an adequate squad player but I can't see him becoming our first choice left back and if Cole was to be sidelined for a couple of months I'd be concerned. He's not as composed as Cole (who is) but looks a bit lost going forward, can't intercept or read the game anywhere near as well and struggles when it comes to positioning. All my own opinion of course.

I thought Kalas was rumoured to be going out on loan again? If that's not the case I think he's more than capable. Bertrand on the other hand isn't, and at 24 unless he's a late bloomer, will never be.

Who we calling the fourth CB? Bertrand is not adequate cover for Cole who could well be gone next season. As for the strikers, time will tell, but if one of the picks up a injury, we'll be looking frail.

We won't burn our attacking midfielders out by February, that's for sure. Defensive Midfield, Left Back, Centre Back and Strikers on the other hand.

Sorry for having an opinion, I thought this was a forum for discussion. I can't wait to see how we're going to field all six of our attacking midfielders this year.

Well, if I could choose what spurs transfer we could have hijacked this week it would have been the Lamela deal, that's not a bad plan B to the Rooney bid. Plan C I would be happy to use the three forwards we've got, if Rooney doesn't come now if he continues to segregate himself from the rest of the united squad I can't see them holding on to him forever. Bit of patience never goes amiss.

I would say. Maybe I had a bit too much faith in him when he first returned claiming he needed to work with the team and develop youth, his first signings showed promise, highlighting the need for a new DM and bidding for Rooney also looked like he knew what the team needed, but now Willian and possibly Eto, just strikes me as the usual pointless short term approach we've seen time and time again. Not that I'm saying either are Jose choice, but there are far better plan B and Cs out there.

Another £30m attacking midfielder, just what the squad was crying out for. I'm glad Jose is working hard getting the most out of the current squad and developing our youth policy. A 32 year old Eto to, to keep Lukaku on the bench even longer would just about top things off.
  10. I have to admit, I only watched it on TV but most of the time I only noticed the United fans singing.
  11. FFP

Rag replied to ishangodbole's topic in General Chelsea FC
In a week when FFP was agreed in the PL, Barcelona (£400m in debt) have handed Messi a £600k a week contract. Go UEFA.
  12. Outstanding logic, maybe going by this table we should instead hire Steve Bruce or Steven Kean
  13. I'm sure we'll probably buy another 20 year old striker in the summer, continue with Torres, loan out Lukaku and let him leave for £5m in a couple of years time along with a load of senior players we don't have any real cover for. It's the future of modern football transfer dealings.
  14. We would appear to have 50 players on our books that aren't required. Think of the wage bill.
  15. If he'd just stopped there, the club would be a lot better place, but the sacking of Jose was the start of his ego and the sycophants creeping into all aspects of the club. The pinnacle of which so far is the FSW, but it might not be the end.
  16. Ah the facts, I should get them straight but don't ever bother presenting them yourself. £80m was roughly the sum of debt the club was in at the end of Ken Bates reign, having had the club himself as high as the seventh in the revenue leagues in 2001-02 (ninth in 2003), so a two place rise off the back of a very successful european campaign is not really blowing my socks off, especially seeing as the TV rights generated by the Premier Legue have gone through the roof since then. As for other financial success, the gap between our revenue and Man United's remains unchanged, we have marginally improved on our standings compared to Arsenal and Liverpool over the same period, given the expenditure, that is hardly a great success. As for less successful, I meant in terms of what could have be achieved if RA kept his nose out of football decisions. How successful would we have been if Jose had stayed for the length of his five year contract? It would have saved us from Grant and Big Phil for starters. But he was sacked because he got in the way of all the people at the club clamoring to ram their noses up RA arse. Less secure, sure unless you ignore the £200m wage bill that the club can ill afford if the struggle to qualify for the CL continues (again as a result of RA decision making) a wage bill grossly inflated by the decisions of RA and the sycophants we call the CFC board. All that has been achieved at the club for £1b could have been achieved for £700m at the most that additional £300m could have been far better spent on a larger ground that would make the club completely secure. Instead we all wait for the next waste of money decision to be announced and all hope that we limp past the finish line this season in fourth.
  17. One error? RA has made dozens of errors that each cost millions upon millions of pounds, have made us less successful, less secure and many of our fan base feeling indebted to the man for nothing.
  18. I'd happily see Roman go, for all he's done for the club he's done most of it for himself, financially the club might have needed him once, but not anymore, I'd go as far as saying financially speaking he and the board are more a hindrance now than an asset, he wanted control over the ground but yet offered up no viable plans for a stadium, the real fans have every right not to trust him.
  19. Sack the whole board and replace them with nodding dogs.
  20. I'm glad we haven't let the FSW loose on any new signings, he barely plays the essential one he did get. As for this window, it's nice to know Arry has reverted to form and by seasons end, QPR will be going bankrupt under the weight if all the absurd scatter-gun signings and Arry would be back on the Beeb blaming anyone but himself for being a sh*t manager who can't be trusted with a cheque book.
  21. They can all f**k off. I hope they play to an empty stadium next home match, no one deserves to pay good money to watch this sh*t.
