Reading v Chelsea (PL) 30/1/13 KO 20:00 GMT
Great mid-week football for us, City, Spurs and Gooners all dropping points. Now six clear of Spurs, four behind City.

Courtesy of Opta Joe - Frank Lampard has now scored nine goals in 11 Premier League starts this season. Impact.

I'd rather take Ramires off and despite him being lightweight, move Bertrand into DM, bring Lampard off for Marin on the left, Mata on the right and Ba upfront with Torres.

Apparently Torres and Ramires are professional football players.

That tenner I put on Le Fondre as FGS is looking like a better bet.

Who's next? - Manager talk (merged)
Hiddink has showed he's only interested in the paycheck for the last eight years, I can't see that ending soon, nor can I see us beating his tax free earnings.

Jack Butland to Chelsea?
Personally I'd rather be number one at Fulham than number two at Chelsea (club alliances aside).

Who's next? - Manager talk (merged)
At what point did I say that AVB had a successful time at Chelsea? In fact I'm pretty sure I described it as 'God awful'. But what I did say, was that I think he was a scapegoat for Boardroom and owner decisions. He lost the dressingroom with the freezing out players such as Anelka and Alex, but that is something that has remained in his absence with Malouda and the refusal to even talk about a contract with Frank, let alone the FSW situation. If he hadn't of had to put up with Torres, the board making all the playing staff decisions and under instructions to revolutionise the team, I think his time here might have been a lot different. As for Grant, Second in the league and a CL final appearance, I would be happy to have that sort of failure at the club right now and I can't really see what he did differently to both Hiddink and RDM, both of whom also reverted to the tried and tested Jose formula for Chelsea victories. I think, right here, right now, with the playing staff we now have and the old guard passing on, a younger more career minded manager wiling to play new tactics might just succeed where others have failed or succeeded in the shadow of Jose with his former team. It just needs the board and Roman to f**k off out of the picture. That I doubt will happen.

How on earth is that moving the club forward? He's managed Terry and Cole, both of whom will be in their final season for the club. I presume you mean AVB by taking a massive risk on an unproven manager? The unproven ones (Grant, AVB, RDM) have been some of our more successful ones. Grant and RDM stuck to the tried and tested players and Jose era tactics, but AVB I am almost certain was let down at board level. He was a success at Porto and is doing a good job Spurs, so I think the cause for him god awful tenure at Chelsea must lay closer to home. Meanwhile, the last great manager with little current club management experience was probably the worst managerial signing I've ever seen at Chelsea.

So, instead of a career minded up-and-coming manager, we should go for a 67 year old high earner that hasn't managed at club level for six years?

Jack Butland to Chelsea?
Not needed, Courtois and Delac are already good enough to take over one and two duties, I believe both would also qualify for homegrown status on turning 21. Cech will not be around for another 5+ years.

Moyes...
Moyes would never take the job, and he'd be an idiot if he did.

OK who would you have as Chelsea manager. Jose is ruled out for the sake of the conversation, we all want him.

Who's next? - Manager talk (merged)
That's just the same old 'not chelsea quality' nonsense I see and hear far to often. All of our best managers have been relative unknowns in the managerial business up until a year or two before their appointment to Chelsea. This club is a managerial poison chalice right now, and Real Madrid have won very little the last 13 years.p in relation to the strength of their league and financial outlay.

I would if that was the case, and Jewell was a well regarded Premiership manager, but he is not, and he didn't. Right now, Chelsea overrate themselves, it's time to face facts and accept we've become a circus that managers and players are starting to avoid.

You'd have to coax him into retirement first.

I rate him as a manager, our best manager out of the last three had done nothing as a manager before stepping in and winning two trophies, AVB was still relatively inexperienced but successful when he took over. Laudrup is getting plaudits this season for a team built and shaped by Martinez. You might want another big time Charlie with half an eye on the payout, but I'd rather take a chance on the manager and sack the board and owner than watch the same circus unfold for another season. And yes, the club is a right mess of late.

The Ideal/Realistic Squad for Next Season 2013/2014
I'd like to see Higuan follow Jose to the Bridge, bonus points if they bring Di Maria with them. I'd also be happy to see Mikel and Romeu shipped out, maybe the latter on loan, not sure who would replace them, a training cone maybe. Essien, Malouda, Benayoun, Turnball, Kakuta and Torres all to go, the FSW to be flushed back down the same sewer he crawled from. Lukaku, Bruma and KDB back from loan and in the squad.

If I was going to choose a manager from the PL, I'd have Martinez, he's worked wonders with a Wigan side that play decent football despite all logic suggesting they should be a mid table Championship team. He'd certainly get the players up for a game and know who to play where.

Last few days, Who we getting in..
I hope we don't sign anyone in January, the current state of affairs at the club is not the right time to be buying players.
-
Last few days, Who we getting in..
We all want Chelsea to invest in the world class players of the future, but we also want to slag those same players off. Oscar like Hazard shows plenty of potential, he just needs time to settle in to a well managed, consistent team that know what strategy they are playing to. At the moment he isn't. I will judge no new player myself until the incompetent fat twat has waddled off elsewhere.
