Yep. The question, imo, isn't 'how much did we pay?'. Now, it should be 'what was his goal worth?'. I don't mean in money: last night's trophy is a real result for your season - it'll always be there and is far more tangible than Arsenal's umteenth CL qualification. The memories of last night - how can they be measured by cost? It's glory and, respectfully, how anyone today can go on about cost, selling, etc. is beyond me. I know I follow Spuds but had to get that off me chest...

Noted. Even if we get CL, someone is going to approach Spurs re. Bale. I have this feeling that he'll stay for another season but we could get offered a silly amount of money for him. Spurs are sound, financially, but we might find it hard to turn down forty-five to fifty million plus. IF he stays, the statement of intent from Spurs will be clear. We don't want to be a selling club, in general terms, imo as we are well placed now to get stronger next season.

No offence but I hope you're wrong! The board at Spurs is very astute so, if Bale does go, we'll definately get the best deal possible. I can't explain why (other than misplaced optimism) but I'm v hopeful of at least one more season with us.

He is. Gazza was a natural whereas Bale is where he is, imo, because of talent but also a lot of hard work. Gazza just had it. Best player I've seen with my own eyes (i.e. at a match not just on TV). He was never as good after the knee injury but he was still top, top class.

I genuinely believe that, should we not get 4th place, we will keep Bale for next season. That said, if we don't achieve something next season, he'll be gone. We've shown enough potential this year for Bale to be persuaded that we can push on in August.
