Posted March 28, 200916 yr Whereas it's been widely reported Guus will remain as the boss of Russia and therefore wouldn't be able to keep the role as CFC manager there is nothing to stop him being Director of Football it would appear. Given he appears to be having a say in who should come and go in the summer expect this rumour to grow very quickly from here on in.
March 28, 200916 yr I've also read this morning that he will stay on as manager, continuing his duel roles with us and Russia. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...-job-share.html
March 28, 200916 yr Guus had said prior to taking the chelsea job he would retire from football management after the 2010 world cup. Therefore he is not a managerial candidate for the long term. We would be best off appoint him director of football and put a young manager in place such as ancelotti or rijkaard who are both keen admirers of Guus.He could hold this position for 4-5 years before retiring. His influence would act as a stabiliser at the club. Edited March 28, 200916 yr by bcarroll
March 28, 200916 yr What is the job exactly of a director of football? Is that like a general manager in American sports, someone who deals with the signings of players? I like Guus staying in some way, but if Jose is going to come back he won't be very happy about having Guus as a director of football.

March 29, 200916 yr the jobs obvious. its directing football, in a directing sort of way. you know, directly.... I can't imagine that Dennis Wise has gone for a job that doesn't allow him to try and mix it up as well a bit. Bring in the transfers, organize a punch up between them, leave the club in the Championship? Perhaps Wisey and Guus could be Co Directors of Football? Would lead to a more accountable board room I'm sure...

March 30, 200916 yr What is the job exactly of a director of football? It's to hand out bibs and collect up the cones at the end of training. Sheesh, weren't you watching at all last year when the witty f**kers in here were attempting to demolish Avram Grant?? Kev
