Reserves v. Man City Reserves

Match Report

Chelsea welcomed back three players who have spent considerable loan periods in the Football League Championship - Scott Sinclair (pictured above) and Ryan Bertrand, who were reunited down the left flank, and Jack Cork who played deep in midfield in the 4-2-3-1 shape currently favoured by Guus Hiddink, an observer of this game.
Before Chelsea's 12th minute equaliser it took an interception from Michael Mancienne in the area to prevent another attempt but when the Blues hit back it was something special from Sinclair.

Man City centre-back Clayton McDonald, by far the heftiest player on the pitch, was left with no chance of catching our left winger once he had raced behind with the ball.

Charging in on goal but with still much to do from the tightest of angles, the 20-year-old finished across the keeper and high into the far top corner with unerring accuracy from his right boot.

Haven't got a clip but I can confirm it was a cracking strike from a ridiculous angle. Had he missed he probably would have been castigated from pulling the ball back for someone else to run onto.

With his right foot? That's not his natural side.

Don't suppose anyone has a video clip of the goal?

He's right footed, verry right footed actualy as in left peg is for standing on...

still take nothing away i would have has him starting for us most of last season and this

Yep, I'm wrong there. Been awhile since I've seen him, (been awhile since any of us have seen him!), but I've just watched some old clips and you're right Barak. He looks predominantly right sided.

However, his left-leg is hardly for standing on!! He is two-footed when he is running with the ball.

Still think it's unfair he has never had a proper shout with us. I know we're not reknowed for giving youth a chance but if only he could have had been given half the time and chances Malouda had, I'm sure he would have been a player.

ive said it before and ill say it again - He has taken every proper chance weve given him, only started two games for us that i can think of against Leicester and hull both last season, he scored against hull and set up two for Lamps against leicester. If only one of our managers would give him a chance

The constant change of managment doesnt go in his favour, you would like to think that if Jose has remained in charge he may have had a better chance by now but 4 managers in 2 years are not good for any one in the youth team because if the instant preshure.

For me malouda is an average player at best and the rave reviews he's getting now is down to how poor he was before hand, he still offers little to nothing.

Sinclare on the other hand has frightening pace and good balance and a natural ability to go round people, he will leave next season and we will have missed out

i think if you ask anyone who has seen him play fairly often they will tell you he hasnt progressed anywhere near as well as people expected. hes obviously very skillful and quick, but he has fairly poor positional sense (his own and his team mates) and, very much like kalou, makes a lot of poor decisions with his final ball. he needs to a lot more than just pace and skill to make it into a top prem side, and i hope he can get these into his game and become a first team player for us.

If only he could be given a quarter of the time and chances Malouda was granted, we'd know one way or the other.

walcott for me is a bit better but still knowhere near as good as people make out.

I think the thing to look at here dkw is who's playing ahead of him. If we still had robben on the one wing and an inform Joe cole on the other there would be no argument, sincalre would have a long wait ahead of him and justifiably so but currntly are options are, Malouda who is absaloute dross and I dont buy in to the "he's turned a conner" thing because he is fundimentily not good enough and at his age wont ever be. Or Kaulo who has some basic ability but lacks aggertion and focus and killer instinict and whole host of other qualitys you can't train in to some one.

So based on what we have at our disposal i think its bit of sh*t stick that Scott was never given a run in the first team. I think only so much can be gained from going out on loan, the only way you really progress is playing first team games for the team that you belong to

Really like Di Santos goal too, this is exciting to watch so if anyone could keep posting the CTV clips of youth highlights it would be great. Sinclair looking good, but the composure Di Santo showed to bring that down, having beat the offside trap, and then slotting home past an advancing keeper, was tremendous

Scott
