Deco:Chelsea are Roman's toy and were wrong to sack Big Phil

Deco last night accused Roman Abramovich of treating Chelsea as his 'toy' and showing a lack of respect to former Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari.

The Portugal playmaker admitted he had a torrid year at Stamford Bridge following his £8m transfer from Barcelona last season and urged Inter Milan to end his nightmare when the transfer window opens on July 1.

'I had a difficult year,' said the 31-year-old. 'I arrived with 'Big Phil' (Scolari). Things started well but then I had many injury problems.

'I had many problems with the medical department and didn't feel I recovered right.

'Honestly, I did not like the experience at Chelsea. I'm looking for another club where I can feel good.'

Deco still has two years left on his contract but Inter sporting director Marco Branca this week held talks in London with a view to signing the midfielder and team-mate Ricardo Carvalho.

'I know Inter is talking to Chelsea,' he said. 'The president of Inter said as much. I would play there.'

The former Porto player believes Chelsea owner Abramovich should have given Scolari more time rather than parting company with the Brazilian World Cup-winning coach in February.

'Chelsea are a special club,' he said. 'If "Big Phil" was perhaps at Manchester United or Liverpool, they respect the coach and give him time to work.

'You look at (Arsenal boss Arsene) Wenger, who for five years hasn't won anything. (Liverpool boss Rafa) Benitez has never won the English championship.

'Chelsea are different, a special club, who have a single owner and they are kind of his toy.

'Sometimes Abramovich makes decisions that go over the head of the director of football. The exit of "Big Phil" was rash.'

Well he has a point. This is not anyway shocking to me. I'm glad players talk when they feel something is wrong. Deco doesn't fit the team although he is great player. I hope he gets his wish and goes to Inter. I'm not sure if he really said all this but he is right to say all that.

Some players might not want to come to Chelsea because they feel we are Roman's toy...

If I were Abramovich, I would fine the git with a 2-week's worth paycheck, simple as that. As long as the club pays you (and even after that, FFS), shut your mouth up.

EDIT: If the quote is actually true. Although does anyone else find it worrying that it is very believably true ?

About players speaking out when something's wrong. What has Deco accomplished in a Chelsea shirt that makes you think he has earned the right to run his mouth at the expense of the club that gave him high wages and a chance to resurrect his career?

Managers are being sacked all the time, he has signed a contract with the club, not Scolari. It was a big mistake to appoint LFS but firing him when we did was the only sensible option and Deco, who spent most of his season on the IL should be the last man to complain.

Cant stand Deco. Rancid little man. Glad he is leaving you lot. All last summer he was sticking his nose into our transfer dealings and it turned out he couldnt hack it in this league.

I don't think he has the right to spout off as he's only been here a while and is still employed by us. Really it doesn't surprise me that much. Didn't like him before he came to us and wish we hadn't signed him. Can't wait till he f**ks away off. Prick

The fact that he is half right in what he says doesnt give him the right to say it.

He had a great start to the season becasue he is a talented footballer. Then things went awry and he retreated into his shell. Big Phil was the only reason he played every week, so its no suprise he rues the fact that he was axed.

Its a wonder he didnt say anything about how the 'toy' did in the second half of the season, with a new manager and WITHOUT Deco's help.

Hope he is on the next plane out of town. This guy was nothing but a 2 minute fascination and I hope the club realizes buying 30 year old legends from other clubs is a terrible strategy if you want to see some passion and effort out there

This doesn't bother me at all, but I really hated the (likely) journo invention of Carvalho calling Chelsea "hell".
