Apparently we had a ig offer refused:

Roma official Bruno Conti claims he was approached by Chelsea regarding the availability of Daniele De Rossi.

The Blues have been strongly linked with a host of players during the summer transfer window as Carlo Ancelotti looks to piece together a side capable of wrestling the Premier League title from the clutches of Manchester United.

The Italian coach is believed to have cast his eye over a number of those plying their trade in his homeland, with employees of former club AC Milan dominating the headlines.

However, it appears that Roma midfielder De Rossi has also fallen under his radar, with a big-money approach reported to have been lodged.

"I've personally had a call from Ancelotti to take the player to Chelsea. But Daniele is untouchable," Conti told Radio Radio.

"The offer was of a lot of money, but it has been refused."

No deal

Roma president Rosella Sensi has also moved to distance the club from any suggestion that they would be prepared to part with the Italy international.

"De Rossi isn't and won't be for sale. He remains with us", she said.

Sensi also admitted that the decision to offload Alberto Aquilani to Liverpool was a tough call to make.

"It was a difficult choice. But he deserved a big club," added the club supremo.

De Rossi didn't 'snub' us, Roma did - allegedly

Lets just wait and see what the papers print...

Its a good point about Aquilani, De Rossi is in a different class.

It's nice to see we're trying to strengthen the strongest part of our squad??!!! De Rossi's good, but like almost everyone else we've been linked with, where would he play and who would he replace? I'm pretty glad we didn't get him, cos if that were the case, we'd really be putting all our eggs in one basket with the diamond (which on initial impressions doesn't look in play as it does on paper).

Interesting to find out that we where/are intrested in that player. Brilliant player that probably would take Mikels place as a defensive midfielder if he came. Something tells me that we will make a improved bid for that lad.

Was thinking about the place in the starting lineup. I dont think eighter Ballack or Mikel will leave if De Rossi enter Stamford Bridge...

I don't think Ballack or Mikel will leave. De Rossi is not just a holding midfielder, but plays similarly to Essien. Mikel is too young to leave, and Ballack too old.

I don't understand the point in going after someone like De Rossi. He is a quality player but we've already got Essien and Mikel. We need flair and creativity, preferably with speed, we've got enough brawn as it is.

We don't need another midfielder. He's a brilliant player, but we don't need him.

I agree, and if this is true I really dont know what the hell the transfer policy is.

If we buy a player like De Rossi fine, but a purchase like that makes me think playing time in the middle would be at Mikel's expense. Either way, its a lateral move and doesnt really improve us dramatically

Exactly. Why did we even think about going for someone like De Rossi? Ancelotti is getting on my nerves now.

The only sense I can see in it is that his arrival would free up Mikel to play a more attacking role, which is good because I don't think Mikel will ever be suited to the DM position, and bad(for Mikel) because I can't see any other position in midfield he would be first choice for.

If he really wants to play Mikel in a more attacking role then he should give Essien his best position, the one currently taken by Mikel. Two birds with one shot!

Er, some people overreacting just a slice here.

It's a rumour on Goal.com and you come out with 'Ancelotti is getting on my nerves now.'

Get a grip guys, seriously.

Giallorossi official Bruno Conti claims Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti made an approach for the Italy international as he scoured his homeland for players who could improve his squad in the Premier League.

"I've personally had a call from Ancelotti to take the player to Chelsea. But Daniele is untouchable," Conti told Radio Radio. "The offer was of a lot of money, but it has been refused."

Goal.com are surprisingly accurate with anything involving Serie A.

A needless buy, too much like Essien and an inferior version in my opinion.

really annoys me when people say that players have been snubbing us such as this de rossi story and pirlo. Geezer is absolutely right its the clubs rejecting our offers. I was on one of the liverpool forums and they wont stop saying that players dont want to come to us. Its f**king stupid pirlo came out numerous times and said he would be open to coming to the bridge. It was milan and roma rejecting our offer not the players rejecting our club.

I do like De Rossi, but like you say, he is another Essien, and we really don't need one of them at the moment.

Great player though, no doubt,

An activity to be avoided for the sake of your own mental health.

As for the rest - f**k 'em all.

Id rather get nobody than a spoiled 17m fullback that cant defend, and replace our best midfielder with a fascist-sympathizing sicknote.
