loz Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 England down to 10 men after 15 minutes. ROb Green sent off for bringing the Ukrainian down in the box but the full blame lies with Ferdinand for another shocking error. Sheva put the penalty wide.

loz Posted October 10, 2009 Author Posted October 10, 2009 Poor old Sheva... That could be both a statement of pity and also a statement of fact!
loz Posted October 10, 2009 Author Posted October 10, 2009 Ukraine 1-0 up. Deflected shot however Ashley Cole was none too smart just before the shot - he gave the ball away cheaper than a whore from Napoli.
Mikstaw Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Oh... Sheva, Sheva... ;) It's good for us, that we sold him...
geezer Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 And Gerrard lets his country down again by going off 'injured' at half time.
Guest bigjockknew Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 And Gerrard lets his country down again by going off 'injured' at half time. He must have some Scottish blood in him then
loz Posted October 10, 2009 Author Posted October 10, 2009 Some pretty dreadful defending on show by England tonight. Ferdinand has been poor throughout. Not far behind him has been Johnson who has, once again, shown that he has all the defensive ability of a Kevin Keegan inspired five a side team. Ashley Cole had a very poor first half but has improved in the second and JT, although the best of the four, has been skinned too easily on a couple of occasions.
loz Posted October 10, 2009 Author Posted October 10, 2009 So England finally lose under Capello and in doing so they almost ensure that Croatia will not qualify - every cloud and all that! Ignore the result as it is meaningless in the grand scheme of things however the performance highlighted all the reasons I don't think England have a hope in hell of seriously competing to win the World Cup. We have a back five (as in the back four and keeper) within which only JT and Ashley Cole are reliable at the highest level (and even then Cole has only been consistently good for a relatively short space of time). We have a holding midfielder who is prone to sloppy passes. We only have one quality striker in the country. All the players that we might rely upon for pace and width blow hot and cold weeek in week out in the domestic game let alone at a major international tournament. Once again the English media and pundits are building up a team to be something well beyond their capability.
Liam Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Once again the English media and pundits are building up a team to be something well beyond their capability. There is one big difference this time though in that they finally have a manager who knows how to get the job done.
BlueBeard Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 There is one big difference this time though in that they finally have a manager who knows how to get the job done. Ah yes, but then he has to accept that his team includes the likes of David 'Oh my God' James, Glen 'defending, what the f*ck's that' Johnson, Rio 'I'm sh*t' Ferdinand, Emile 'my arse loves the grass' Heskey, and Peter 'lamp-post' Crouch. Should be a laugh in SA
jezza Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 As an aside, the atmosphere generated by the Ukranians looked lively! Also, did I really see Sheva beat Ash in a chase for the ball?
Guest d-vder Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 There is one big difference this time though in that they finally have a manager who knows how to get the job done. Yeah, but cloning Vidic and Vermaelen seems a little beyond even his undoubted skills.
geezer Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 As an aside, the atmosphere generated by the Ukranians looked lively! Also, did I really see Sheva beat Ash in a chase for the ball? Yep you did, and Ash had a two yard start on him. Where the f**k did that come from? Even the MOD guys made a comment on that.
BLUENUT Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Does anyone remember a worse perfromance by an England centre half than Ferdinand gave on Sat?? I know he needs games but that performance was truely shocking. If Cahill of Lescott turned in a performance like that, they would never play for the country again!!
loz Posted October 12, 2009 Author Posted October 12, 2009 I think I recall Upson being as bad as that but certainly not worse.
bonetti Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 As an aside, the atmosphere generated by the Ukranians looked lively! Also, did I really see Sheva beat Ash in a chase for the ball? Ash couldnt be arsed coz he knew Sheva would f**k it up
