Some pretty dreadful defending on show by England tonight. Ferdinand has been poor throughout. Not far behind him has been Johnson who has, once again, shown that he has all the defensive ability of a Kevin Keegan inspired five a side team. Ashley Cole had a very poor first half but has improved in the second and JT, although the best of the four, has been skinned too easily on a couple of occasions.

So England finally lose under Capello and in doing so they almost ensure that Croatia will not qualify - every cloud and all that!

Ignore the result as it is meaningless in the grand scheme of things however the performance highlighted all the reasons I don't think England have a hope in hell of seriously competing to win the World Cup.
