Gael Kakuta

What are the plans for this kid? To me, he seems like the real deal and a perfect tip of the diamond type guy. He can shoot and create for others. Can somebody update me on his suspension? How is it going to work again if and when the ban gets put back on. When can we expect him to really contribute to the team?

His suspension, just like our transfer one, is suspended pending the outcome of our appeal. Once the outcome of the appeal is know his suspension will be adjusted according. He has already served some of the suspension so I would imagine whatever the final length of it is decided to be will need to be reduced by the time already served.

As for what happens after that - well that is just speculation. We have sent a lot of kids out on loan as Sydney is making reference to however the majority of them have proved, whilst on loan, that they probably aren't ever going to be good enough to play in our first team. If Kakuta is sent out on loan the responsibility is on him to prove that he is good enough.

I assume the plan is to send him on loan to the Championship, then to a relegation-fighting Premier League club where he will barely play any games and get injured.

the reason they hardly play and never get back to us is simply because they arent good enough. thy are sent out on loan to prove themselves worthy of a place in our squad, if they dont they get moved on. we arent going to play players just because they are young, they need to be good enough too.

I’m hoping that Kakuta does not get sent out on loan. I know a lot of players do at this stage in their careers and many benefit but equally many don’t (Sinclair & Sahar for starters). But this lad looks exceptional and those sort of players – like Rooney, Messi, Fabregas, don’t tend to go out on loan. They look ready even at a young age. He has already suffered one bad injury and if he gets dispatched to some lower league club, he is the sort of player who will be targeted by the hatchet boys.

No for me he needs more of what happened in the Wolves match. 30 minutes here, 30 minutes there – maybe even more and starting 11 in FA cup & League cup. Lets see what the lad can do rather than send him to some God forsaken place like QPR or Palace!

I would rather see him stay in and around the first team...playing the odd game, covering injuries, playing in cup games etc. If he's truly good enough, it should only take a couple of seasons before he breaks into the first team on a more permanent basis. In the mean time, play for the reserves and France youth teams, and work with the likes of Ballack and Lampard.

Anyway...that's the dream.

Carletto has said that he won't buy any players in January, and rather give our promising youngsters a chance. Kakuta is the hottest prospect, so I guess the plan is to keep him in the club and give him more chances. Hopefully he will play against Rovers on Wednesday.

I hope Bruma, Kakuta, Hutch and Borini won't be loaned out, but stick around, gaining experience in that way. I have big hopes for all four.

Absolutely agreed with you on this Nibs.

Sometimes a kid comes along that is so good they need to be nurtured into the first team as quick as possible; they have that certain 'unexplained" presence about them that signifies they are something special. Gael, for me and many others at Chelsea, has that element of the unexplained.

Look, this is the kid that Joe Cole, Frank Lampard, and John Terry all used to specifically go to reserve games to watch. I think that in itself says something. The way that he handled himself when eh came on against Wolves shows that we have something special here. In the past, we've seen players like Sinclair, of Sahar, or even Stoch (although to a lesser degree) get a few minutes in the dying stages of a game, and all they succesfully do is run around like a headless chicken.

I am sure when some youngsters get their chance they think "this is it, my chance to prove to the manager that I deserve a place" and they try to do everything. They try so hard it is detrimental as it makes them look unaware to the intricacies of the game, that their positioning is poor, whatever. However, when Gael came on, he just looked like he had fun and enjoyed his game.

Sinclair, Sahar are both good players, but were never going to make the grade. I think their timing was a few years too early, as our academy was still finding its feet at the time they came along. And those feet had not been used in a long time. Today however, we are starting to see our academy bear fruit, which I think is incredibly exciting. Wolves game, there were 3 (yes that was all of our subs) Reserve team players that finished the game. Matic (the next Ballack), Borini (the next Crespo) and Kakuta (the next Zola). That is just wonderful news to me.

Gael's leg break he seems to have completely recovered from, and I believe in quick time, so I am sure he put a lot of effort into getting himself back to full fitness. However, the last thing he'd need right now is to be loaned to a club where the "hatchet" lads would have a real go at him. He'd show them up with his skill, and thus make him a target. I could just see some neanderthal standing over an injured Kakuta taunting him with "try your fancy step over now, you c**t!" I don't think that is a risk we should take. The risk we should take is to play him more in the first team.

Thanks

Scott

Come on Scott, not all other sides have Jamie Carragher in their team. ::ChELSeAFaN::
