abramovich Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 http://www.usatoday.com/sports/soccer/2010...757978983_x.htm ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Guus Hiddink has agreed to a two-year contract as coach of the Turkish national team. The Dutchman's contract as Russia coach ends on June 30 and he will sign a contract committing him to Turkey until August 2012 with an option for a further two years. The Turkish Football Federation announced the deal Wednesday for Hiddink, who has also previously coached South Korea, Australia and Russia. He guided Russia to the semifinals of the 2008 European Championship but the team failed to qualify for this year's World Cup. Hiddink replaces Fatih Terim, who quit after Turkey failed to reach the World Cup.
BLUENUT Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 My thoughts exactly. Turkey go for Guss (pronounced Goose) I can imagine the headlines already!
Alex Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 good look to him......so glad hes not going to binfield
blizeH Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Why Turkey? Why not Chelsea ;_; (sorry Carlo, I like you, but Guus is just awesoem)
Maksimov Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Why Turkey? Why not Chelsea ;_;(sorry Carlo, I like you, but Guus is just awesoem) We've already got a manager and I don't Guus really wants to return to full time club football management. ;) I have a feeling we're going to see a strong team performance from Turkey in the next Euros.
MHedges Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Turkey?!?!? Outside of one of our rival clubs, this is about the last place a Greek like me would want to see him succeed!
geezer Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 So Guus has taken the Turkey job. Well he's started early because he's already stuffed the dippers!!
Virosh Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Turkey?!?!?Outside of one of our rival clubs, this is about the last place a Greek like me would want to see him succeed! I don't have that sentiment and there is just as much bad blood in our history. I wish him all the best, seeing as Turkey is not in our group for the Euros 2012.

Don't worry you're getting Mourinho when he leaves Inter, (I hope). The thought of Hiddink or The Special One rocking up at Liverplod, Citeh or ManUre doesn't bear thinking about.
german-blue Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 just read it aswell...surprising choice imo.
