clubhappy
Are we about to lose our best player for the rest of the saeson ? Any news on his injury ?
german-blue
Ancelotti also had injury news, but could not shed too much light on the knee problem that forced Branislav Ivanovic off at the end of the first half. 'It is a traumatic injury on his knee, so for this we have to wait until the next day for a clear situation of his injury. When you speak about a knee you have to be worried but I hope he can recover quickly,' said the Italian. 'For Wednesday I think Petr [Cech] will be ready, and also [Michael] Ballack had a little problem on his [Achilles] tendon, so I think he will be ready for Wednesday.' from the official site ! icecoolguy22
He gone, Diouf score off a header by jumping over Paulo on the right hand side. That just about says it all
Chippy
I'd say we had a bit of bad luck for their Goal, a cross came in which our second choice LB failed to close down, our third choice RB got outjumped and our third choice Keeper had little chance, lucky he never banged his head on the post or our fifth choice keeper would have been thrown in.. maybe if Ivan had not got injured we would have dealt with it and maybe had a bit more going forward on the right. loz
Come on Chippy, these aren't 18 year old youth players you are talking about. Zhirkov and Paulo are very experienced international footballers. Where they are in terms of our squad doesn't for a second excuse the basic errors we saw in that goal. The lack of closing down of the cross and then the attempt to head it clear amounting to a tiny hop are not acceptable from players of that stature. That goal wasn't bad luck, it was just poor defending by two players who should do much better.

I was joking but now you come to mention it they should have done a lot better and surely its not because the Manager failed to tell them those basic duties so it sort of argues my point for me.. loz
I have already said the players need to shoulder the blame just as the manager does.
Chippy
I have already said the players need to shoulder the blame just as the manager does. If I used your logic I could say using that logic we should have a Poll asking who the replacements are to all the players then..fair? Its hard enough for a manger coming to the EPL let alone with no new players, we are seeing the same as we do under every Manager..decent performances getting worse near the end of his tenure, new Manager effect lasting until the going gets tough and they drop their heads a bit. Mourinho had it in season 3 and he had a player in Makalele who almost done Ballack and Mikels job on his own. Grant had it Scolari had it Hiddink came and went in a spell where he managed to get through it, Carlo has got it tough with this lot and they should all be worried about their futures on todays showing. Here are the players I think need to be moved on and suitable replacements found Deco Ballack Kalou Joe Cole Anelka Hilario some due to age, some due to ability, and some due to the fact their form is too erratic to trust. ScandiBlue
Hope it isn't too bad,Brana's been immense this season,I hope nothing comes of the Madrid rumours in the summer. If he is going to be out for any length of time,i'd love to see Hutchy get a few games before the end of the season if he can get fit enough, hope he comes through the reserves ok this week. Chippy
Yep. Here are the players I think need to be moved on and suitable replacements foundDeco Ballack Kalou Joe Cole Anelka Hilario some due to age, some due to ability, and some due to the fact their form is too erratic to trust. I'd agree with most of that bar Anelka but again that depends on what is available to spend and if the youngsters are good enough to step in.. I would think to replace Joey and Ballack we would need to spend quite heavily and a striker would need to be less a Kalou back up type oplayer and more a direct competitor for either Anelka or Drogbas place..I see no point in having a Sturridge and A Kalou. It looks to me like Turnbull is possibly good enough to be second choice so we could save money there as I thought a back up keeper would be needed for next season. I think if our injured players come back OK we will need 3 decent signings and a couple of the youngsters to step up, I'd like to see Stoch back and around the first team next season. The other thing I wouldn't mind is if we let Carvalho go and got a more pacy CB who could play beside either JT or Alex, I think the Gallas JT partnership worked because of Gallas having speed. Eggy McMuffin
Yep. I'd probably agree with that, except I'd add in either P Ferreira or Belletti... possibly both, depending on the availability of cheap replacements willing to sit on the bench as much as they'd have to. Although, I'd be tempted to keep Anelka another season. If we can keep him in his proper position, he can be very, very good. Even if he's a third choice. loz
Belletti could be allowed to go without being replaced as we have enough players who can do what he does. My list was more players who I think we should replace. That replacement, for me, would be a combination of new signings and promotions from the reserves. Like bringing up Stoch to replace either Deco or Joe, that sort of thing.
loz
Probably Kakuta ahead of Stoch. Also Matic to replace Ballack.
cfckeane
Maybe this will give a chance to blood some youngsters, although I think Paulo will get the shout for Portsmouth in midweek, if Iva's out for a while. Just think that unless Ancelotti has some sort of clear out this year, and brings in youth we'll be struggling even more next year, and could get dragged down into the battle for fourth. Yes we started off well, but we've been really inconsistent again this year and it's either other Premiership managers wising up to Ancelotti's system, or the players are beginning to develop complacency. I agree with the list completely. We should have given more time to the likes of Kakuta, Sturridge and Matic this season sop that when we move these players on next season, they'd be ready to step in straight away at least for a few of them. TheWestwayWonder
f**k. A traumatic knee injury sounds like a pretty bad assessment. It would be a crushing blow to lose this guy too. What is going on with Bosingwa? Is he ever going to recover? I hate to be crass, but I am starting to think selling him to Bayern Munich wouldve been the smart move
