We had decent crowds back in 1985. We finished 6th that year. Yes the stadium was shabby but we didn't even own it back then!

I always liked and rated Eddie Newton, but he wasn't universally liked by the fans. It was a big shame how his career was wrecked by injury, as he was rumoured to be close to an England call-up.

I rated eddie too...shame that broken leg effectively ended his career...that was back in the day when young talent had more of a chance of playing regularly...course we didn;t win the title back then, but it was good to see the likes of eddie and frank sinclair come through and be real chelsea home growns...won a few medals too!

Eddie looked like a very average squad player before Ruud came along. Under Ruud's tutelage he came on leaps and bounds in no time and was close to an England call up.

Edit - I just realised backbiter already said half of what what I said.

Bluebeard would never jeer "get it forward" perhaps kill the c**t but never get it forward

Or possibly "kill the c*nt and get it forward" if I was feeling eloquent.
