Well, if it makes you feel any better, William Hill are not currently taking bets on who will be our manager (as far as I could find) and according to Oddschecker, of the 5 bookies that they are currently listing odds for this market, only 2 of them even list 'Arry as the favourite, and none of them have him odds on. In fact, 2 of them actually have Guardiola at odds on (and I for one think that it's even less likely that he comes here than 'Arry).

Eventually people will realise that odds quoted by bookmakers are not decided by anybody 'in the know', they are calculated (in a similar way to share prices) based on how many people are betting on it. If there are widespread rumours of something (as there have been about 'Arry) then some idiots will believe them and the odds will shorten. That doesn't mean that anyone knows something we don't, just that some people have more money than sense.

French boolies have 3/1 on a Norman invasion. I'll give you 10/66.

Now that's funny :laugh2:

'Arry as our new manager, not so much.

Maybe Arry has banged some of his bung.....sorry hard earned wages and thats why the odds have shortened.

I'm no fan of Harry but if Roman were to pick a British manager which is most unlikely, I would prefer Harry to the rest of that mediocre lot.

i can add some sort of news to this.

now before you all reply to this having a pop at how what im about to say is all nonsense take into account that im just passing on information that ive heard and if it turns out true, is quite useful so,

my mates dad knows andy johnson and andy said that harry would be going to chelsea, my mates dad then tried to bet on this happening (not sure which bookmaker) and they wouldnt let him.

as strange as that story is i wouldnt be suprised if it happened although i dont see how harry can do any better than carlo, what has he ever won?

i really hope he doesnt get the job.

An acceptable choice would be Guus Hiddink. Bring him in as a stop gap for a season or two and let him pick his assistant e.g. Van Basten and build the team with Guardiola or Villas-Boas in mind as the future manager.

I consider Hiddink almost a dead set certainty for the job. But assuming for a second it is Redknapp, I don't see why he'd be so bad. His done a good job basically everywhere his been and deserves the chance at a big club.

I can see im in the minority though

I am not too bothered by Rednapp dont mind him, think he could do a job. My concern is that he could waste huge sums of money, just on past experience, but he has never had to chance to attract to top players, it could work out but it would be risky imo.

Lets hope the board make a decision soon. ( I still think that chelsea would have got their man ages ago and a deal has been done)

Exactly, Redknapp has never had the sources to attract A level players! They still got van der Vaart for a real bargain. And I think Pavlyuchenko is very underrated at the spuds.

However, Hiddink is and will remain a better choice any time of the day.

Reckon that it hasn't been announced yet is because he's still working somewhere else and they're waiting for a convenient time?

Im not sure mate most probably, I suppose they may not want to announce it straight away as might looked planned on carlo.

I reckon he will have still been working

so if were looking at those candidates.

Villa Boas, National Cup final. Like our FA cup

Pep. CL, but has committed futere to FCB

Hiddink, Euro Qualifier.

seems likely imo

There is a rumour floating about that Turkey have lined up John Toshack to replace Guus Hiddink as Manager. Guus will then manage Chelsea for the 11/12 season. Guardiola is then expected to come in as Manager and Guus to move to Director of Football.

It makes sense but let's not forget it's silly season!

southampton were tragic whilst he was there.

i just cant see why the board would think harry can do better than carlo, especially in europe, i just cant see a future of us dominating with him in charge.

I think it would be a sideways step. Carlo has won more than him because he has managed 2 of the better clubs in Europe, tactically they are both a bit naive.

I'm sure I heard on the radio that the fat Spanish waiter was being lined up for the Turkey job, but just to say if 'Arry pitched up here I'd be pretty happy with that especially if he took Zola under his wing.

This thread scares me

Likewise. I also feel sorry for the Turkey national squad if they end up with that Toshack dude. Sure he took Toshack from the 4th Division into the 1st Division and managed to keep them up for an extra year after they got there, but he also took them all the way back down again pretty much straight away and hasn't done anything much in the 25 years since - hardly on the same level as Hiddink, can see why they don't want to let him leave.

Can't see Redknapp being our new manager. I think we could do worse but also believe that we could do a whole lot better. Hiddink has to be our main target and failing that we could do with somebody with a track record of winning titles and ideally a good European record. Surely somebody decent has to be lined up otherwise it made no sense to get rid of Carlo so quickly.
