Luckily didn’t have one that day. Went by coach from the Bridge at lunchtime. Such a great trip, back at the bridge 6am Saturday morning.
May 4, 20233 yr Went up with in a sales rep mates escort estate, six of us, with the back seats down; four in the back sitting cross legged with a crate of beer in the middle. Remember going through Richmond Park en route to the M1- one of our crowd piped up with “ I really love this park”...next thing without thinking he’s slung an empty out the window.... Saw Jimmy Hill who was commentating driving up in his Peugeot. Being stupid teenagers we overtook him, all giving it the exaggerated chin stroke gesture. Good day out all and all. The last three aways of City, Pompey, and Grimsby were epic

The picture where Kerry is challenging Mick McCarthy, the group of fans all standing are our official seats. Never understood why we weren’t behind the goal in the Platt Lane end, still a great view and we could see everyone else next to City in the Kippax

Never understood why we weren’t behind the goal in the Platt Lane end, still a great view and we could see everyone else next to City in the Kippax Went to Maine Road- one of the last games played there in 2003- Zola got completely outmuscled that day and was pretty ineffectual which was very rare. A smattering of Millwall were with us that day, who’d had previous ding dongs with City. We left before the pitch invasion and the mini invasion of our end. Was on a bus going back to Deansgate where our hotel was- very moody on there- phone rang which had a Blue is The Colour ringtone- luckily managed to silence it about a second in otherwise they’d still be picking up me teeth now.
May 6, 20233 yr Afterword...made it back to hotel- bout 20 of us- went on for a pint in some back street boozer- amongst us were Sam ( Lovejoy) who passed away recently- there’s some great testimonies to him on various Chelsea forums, and his boyhood mate Tommy David RIP- both from Willesden and original 69 Chelsea skins- Anyway in this pub- Tommy Davis with his Pork Pie hat on starts singing “ Underneath the Arches”....giving it all the theatrical movements...changed the lyrics to “ Underneath the Armpits “ Brought the house down” Fantastic days
May 6, 20233 yr I know it’s already been posted and possibly many times. However, I just like this picture.

An 1130am kick off rather like our London derbies in the promotion season before. (Help me here) top picture: Ian McNeill, Deadly Doug, Colin Lee, Eddie Eddie, Colin Pates, Dale Jasper (in the corner), Nigel Spackman, John Neal, and hiding behind the grey hair (16) is, I think, Peter Bonetti. Lower picture includes Joe McLaughlin (5), Derek Johnstone (by the door) and Norman Medhurst in the white shorts. His father Harry was trainer before him and was a big smoker - you can find pics of him with a fag on during training. Very happy days, massive turn out from our mob that day.
