Soccer – League Division One – Chelsea v Wolverhampton Wanderers – Stamford Bridge

Eighteen-year-old Jimmy Greaves, left, scoring one of his five goals for Chelsea against Wolves (who were the reigning champions)! We won 6-2 in front of 62,118 spectators.

Jimmy Greaves goals came in the 5th, 38th, 48th, 62nd and 75th minutes respectively.

This took his goal tally up to eight goals in just the opening three League games!

He’d scored two against Man Utd away the previous Saturday and one against Spuds at The Bridge .in midweek.

Our other goal that day, was scored by Ernie Block in the 44th min.

Wolves Captain, Billy Wright and another Wolves player chase the ball in vain as Jimmy Greaves (No.8) scores another of his goals on 30th August 1958.
