Jose who? This man is the proper 'special one', for us Gentlemen of a certain vintage. Nearly 40's years on (can't believe its that long) and we still hold this manager in such high esteem. The Governor!!

100% agreed. ::clap2::

John Neal was and still is 'The Original 'Special One' in the eyes of us Chelsea supporters of a 'Certain Vintage'

That gaffer !

programme cover for Chelsea v Manchester City, Wednesday, 21st Nov 1984  Wed, 21st Nov 1984. we beat Man City 4-1 at The Bridge.    Our scorers were:  King Kerry, who  got a hat trick in the 13th,33rd and 48th mins. Keith Jones added to our score in the 55th. Gordon Smith scored late on for City

However, this match is remembers by us of'  'a certain Chelsea Vintage'  for 'That Penalty Miss' by wee Pat.   Sorry Pat !

Same win again on Saturday by us would be very much appreciated !

The most gutted ive ever been of any player leaving Chelsea over the years when wee Pat went, it was the beginning of the break up of THAT team, when King Kerry left it was a few years later and you knew he had done his time and his career was winding down, Pat had so much to offer, and to sign for Everton, I know they were with Liverpool the top club in the country but let's be honest Everton? One of the most boring clubs in the league, hardly CHELSEA with our glamour, location and our fans of the day!!

I wonder what year that is, my wife's uncle played for Racing in the late early 60's.

Great photo from the year before we won the league. Charlie (Chick) Thompson, goalkeeper, left us to join Notts Forest and played for them when they won the cup in ‘59. R Smith was, of course, Bobby Smith who joined Spurs and was an integral part of their double winning side.

Ron Greenwood, who would go on to manage West Ham and then England.
