Has chelsea grown into a "big" club

Featured Replies

Just a question to everyone on the forum. I have been getting a lot of grief lately from friends who support arsenal. They call chelsea a small club. I realise that we didnt win that many trophies in the 20th century compared to some teams. Have we become a "big club" or are we just a "small club with money"

Dont really care whether other fans think were a big club or not. Were Chelsea, thats all I`m interested in.

Just tell them they should be ashamed that their big club has been bested so often and so easily by our little club then. Oh and f**k em.

I've heard lots of reference to teams being a big club or a small club. What would be interesting is for you to ask your friends how they're measuring the 'size' of a club. Global fanbase? Revenue? Competitions won? I'd wager that we've been consistently better than Arsenal in all of those categories over the last 5 years. Or do they want to be so picky with their definition that they deliberately exclude those that have had more recent (or should that be relevant) success by stipulating that such achievements must have been maintained over 10, 20, 50, 100 years?

I refuse to be drawn into arguments with people claiming that we are a small club because in reality, what does the 'size' of a club matter anyway? We are currently one of the most successful teams in the world and, whatever some jealous Arsenal/Liverpool fans want to believe, that's unlikely to change any time soon.

Ask them if they enjoy being big clubs feeder club. Cole to us, Adebayor to City, Fibreglass and nasri leaving this summer.

I enjoy telling people we're the other club in Fulham. There reaction is priceless.

Does it matter? Does it f**k!

Who is Arsenal and who the f$&k would want "Arse" as part of the name? No wonder no one wants to be associated with them internationallyî¡î–

This whole "big club" thing to me is something fostered by SkySports. You can't judge the size of a club accurately. And its commonly used as a defence by clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool who are jealous of our success, which should discredit it even more.

BIG CLUB, WEE CLUB its all means f**k ALL!

Delivering, that is whats important

True. Look at Liverpool. People would say that they are a "big club", but look how well it's going for them
