Featured Replies

I would like to think there Sniejder part of this is true, but would also hope Frank stays in the same sort of capacity as Giggs & Scholes are used at Unt

Lazy journo. Cover themselve incase jose comes back (Sneijder) & in case Carlo stays (Kaka).

I don't think Jose will be coming back, so if it's related to those rumours, then it's even more far fetched. Besides, I think Carlo has ruled out going after Kaka anyway.

he said he wasnt going to sign torres too, also denied drogba swap. Im sure he would like Kaka, I personally think its a bit late for him to come to england

Its obvious that we will have to replace Frank Lampard and John Terry at some point, but just getting rid like them is not a good idea. You have to ease the replacements in. Wesley Sneijder though would be a fantatsic addition.

Chelsea could be planning to get rid of John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba as Roman Abramovich continues his over-haul of the club

Chelsea have been criticised for their ageing squad during a comparatively poor season and the Sunday Mirror Sport reports that the Russian billionaire is set to offload three of his biggest stars in a bid to get things back on track.

The signings of Fernando Torres (from Liverpool) and David Luiz (from Benfica) in the January transfer window are direct replacements for Drogba and Terry while Kaka and Wesley Sneijder are being lined up as a successor for Lampard.

Drogba, meanwhile, seems to be decidedly unhappy about the situation with The Mail on Sunday reporting that the Ivory Coast striker will quit Stamford Bridge if he is dropped for Tuesday night's Premier League showdown with Manchester United.

The 32-year-old is eyeing a move back to Marseille in the summer, although the rumoured £20 million transfer fee that Chelsea would demand, as well as the French club's inability to match Drogba's wages of £130,000 a week, could be a stumbling block.

what the f**k is this ?!

although the above will never happen (in that context anyway), i cant see roman being stupid enough to move on terry, lampard and drogba, it would be madness

maybe the latter, but not all 3 at once.

I've already partially accepted Drogba's departure in the summer, it's inevitable I think. However I don't think JT and Frank will leave, I fully expect both of them to retire here. Lamps won't be as prominent next season because he's getting on a bit now and he has that niggling injury in his thigh, but I expect him to be a mainstay on the bench and occasional starter. Getting someone LIKE Sneijder or Kaka would be ideal to replace Frankie.

Why?

ok for Torres, but Snejider is 10x better than Torres at the moment, and he is very important for Inter, but we can get him only if we offer 50-60 millions.

edit : but i think that we will not spend 50 millions on one player for 2-3 years..

Watched the game between Inter and Roma which Inter won 5-3. Schneijder scored a brilliant goal in the early minutes and had an excellent game. In the match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge which Inter won 1-0, Sneijder stood out and made the difference.

If Roman is still willing to loosen the purse strings and sign Sneijder it would be the answer to our midfield requirement.

I don't think it's any suprise that I've always admired wesley as a player, and even said he was the difference between us and inter in the CL. Unfortunately that was shot down, because it was afterall down to inter having Jose on the sideline.

He's a great player, and I'd certainly welcome him; however, I think he's too integral to inter, and was a better target when he was at Real. No, if Inter were to sell him it'd be for too much money and we'd be best looking elsewhere

Agreed

I don't think we could go wrong with that one.

Any other players in the same "playmaker" category that I could think of are either unproven at the top level (Hamsik, Pastore, Ganso etc) or past their prime (Kaka).

Sneijder is turning 27 in June and is in his prime. He is built for BPL, tough, doesn't shy away from challenges, quick, great distribution of the ball and one of the best shooters of the ball which is important when you think who he would eventually replace (Lamps). The man has everything a modern footballer needs to have and it's no surprise that he's a driving force that keeps Inter running for two seasons now.

I don't know if he's really available but there were a lot of rumors about Inter rebuilding the aging squad in the summer and him being one of the players sold to raise the funds. If there's any chance of getting this guy for under 30m I hope we don't miss the boat like we did when he was considered as a surplus at Madrid two years ago.

Anything under 30m is a steal for this guy. He is in the prime of his career, wants to move to England (to complete the trifecta) and could give us a good 4 years service while McEachran acts as understudy.

Crucially, Sneijder would then give us unquestionably the best set-piece taker in the league, a massive, 10-15 goal a season asset considering we have the likes of Ivanovic, Alex, Terry, Luiz, Torres and Drogba.

He would be the perfect signing to improve the team.

If we could only make one signing (obviously under the assumption players like Messi and Ronaldo are unavailable), I would chose this guy.

I don't believe we'll sign him...but if we did...well...happy times.
