Its time we faced facts here people, we have signed a ?30m lemon. Reading between the lines on this subject i think we all know it. Wanting and hoping as we all did that he would do well is not enough.I had hoped we would sign a forward with pace, when we got Sheva i thought ok he'll do(even at that price for his age). But it has become painfull to watch a former great? struggle the way he has.

When we signed Gullit, we knew we was getting a player past his best but the guy shone. He oozed class, even at his age he was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch.I just dont see it with Sheva(please, please prove me wrong).

He has been given a lot of chances by the fans,we have shown a lot of patience.Perhaps we should just admit he's past it. We should change the name Andrey for the name Dave and Shevchenko for Mitchell, give him a Jeremy Beadle make over and have a laugh like we used to.

Im sorry, but there is no striker in world football today full stop that will play brilliantly when the team isn't playing to his strengths.

Lets worry about getting Sheva some decent service before we worry about a lack of goals form his boots.

I'm disappointed in Sheva's performance myself, but in addition to Qaz's valid response, may I add that we don't often see a player from a different culture, who's played in a different system for years, and who has not been fit since last summer's World Cup, score for fun.

He's not fit, he may not be suitable for the EPL, he may not get the service he needs, he may drop his head, but give the man a break. Drogba for instance is only truly successful in his 3rd season....

Henry scores 1 goal in 1st season... but Arses could live with that.

The whole team is underperforming. Sheva never played main striker, so we can say he plays great when the team plays great. The same is flip side of a coin.

Midfielders must feed forwards. But our midline was remaked too. Not personalities only, but tactically too, a lot of changes are risky always.

P.S. Now I remind Mourinho`s words: "With Ballack we get the best pair of central midfielders in Europe" (or something like this)

Oh No. Here we go again icon_rolleyes.gif

And you are perfectly right. Last 3 months we were talking on the same matters. "Left - Right, Left - Right" system.

Boring......... blahblah.gif Shevchenko blahblah.gif Ballack blahblah.gif

Well there is one Qaz. There's this bloke called Drogba. icon_wink.gif

PS: Sergy, you're wrong. In his first season Henry was Arsenal's top scorer with 26 goals, (17 in the EPL).

The culture thing yes, thats a given but milan played a dimond around sheva and co striker so the system shouldnt be to unfamilure to him

a diamond with lamps, ballack, essien and maka is different to one with gattuso, seedorf, kaka and pirlo- surely that much is ridiculously obvious?

At least his character and determination is still there.

Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko has angrily dismissed the latest rumours linking him with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

"There won't be any transfer," he told Gazeta. "I'm a Chelsea player and I've got a lot vested in this club.

"I'm not interested in a move to Real Madrid or anyone else."

He accused the media of stirring up speculation when he has no intention of leaving West London, and had a suggestion for the guilty scribes.

"It is just the journalists making up stories. They are the ones who should be sold to Real. icon_lol.gif "

The Ukrainian, who was not in the squad for the League Cup semi-final draw with League 2 side Wycombe Wanderers on Wednesday evening, has set his aspirations on one thing.

"I plan to win back my place in the first team in the near future," he ascertained, "And to return to my real level of play."

Ohhh..... Maybe.

I`ve heard it here on the forum in previous talks about Sheva... icon_redface.gif

I hope he comes good of course 128.gif , but he has'nt exactly got time on his side. We did'nt sign a prospect. As for the Shevchenko/Ballack debate being boring well it is i suppose, but it is quite a big issue.

I said at the start of the campaign these players would make or break our season. At the moment its the latter.

The point i was trying to make with the Dave Mitchell coment(I dont suppose many remember him)was, if his name was'nt Shevchenko would he be getting a game based on his performances this season. The answer is NO.

And while we are at it, baring injuries, suspensions and the occasional rest, our best midfield is Maka,Lampard and Essien.Simple.

I hope as i said these players come good in the second half 'cos we are still fighting on four fronts and i would stick with Sheva up front in a 4-3-3 formation with the midfield i've just said and Drogba and Robben. Until Joe Cole comes back that is.

Mate if Dave Mitchell had have proved himself to be the class Sheva has proved he is we would have played him well into his fifties icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif
