Del Piero will have to apologise for this!

Featured Replies

Oohhh, that wont make them happy. And after they held up a banner saying "friendship" and everything..........

I've always liked Del Piero, but now I'm convinced he's a footballing legend!

I can just imagine how the legions of whining scousers will respond to this - f*ck the lot of 'em!

First of all The Telegraph really seems to be a bit late seeing as he said this just after he had joined Sydney, which is quite some time ago. What's next, they're going to report that Terry is now accused of having racially abused Anton Ferdinand in a game?

Secondly - and this is the big one - this part made me seriously pissed off!

"Del Piero went on to make 705 appearances and score 290 goals on his way to becoming a Nerazzurri legend".

Alessandro Del Piero has never been an Inter legend. He played for Juventus - Bianconeri - and is their (my) legend. To call him a Nerazzurri legend is extremely insulting. It's like calling Lampard or Terry "best scouser ever".

The Telegraph should be f*cking ashamed of themselves! :Connie_threaten:

Agreed that is offensive...

However, Del piero is an Italian legend too so not that offensive, just a stupid mistake by a foreign paper it will be viewed as.

however his sentiments regarding the Juve Liverpool relationship are admirable in a fair minded world, unfortunately football is not a fair minded world.

Pure class. Classy player, classy man. I feel bad for him that he didn't get to end his career at Juve, but he's just too old to be a wise investment, unfortunately. Similar to Drog (though far more of a legend for them, obviously).

He phrases it in a very good, diplomatic way too and leaves no room for angry scousers

Didn't get to see the match (because I was going to Suncorp for the Roar match), but I saw his FK and Heskey's goal.

I love having them in the league. I don't care that Brisbane don't have a real marquee (we don't need one), but as a football fan, I am enjoying seeing them in Australia.

I only wish that one of them would go to Adelaide!

Hardly, they were both falling on their arse, Heskey just has more practice.

He really was pretty average for them but I think he'll improve. Mind you I've never really considered how terrible his first touch was until I saw him in the flesh. A decade in the English top flight and there are Australian players with better technique.
