Fox Soccer BPL all time 11

Featured Replies

They just had the "best 11 of the Barclays Premier League" pn Fox Soccer out here, and the team was:

GK:  Schmeichel

RB: Neville

CB: Ferdinand

CB: Terry

LB: A. Cole

RW: Ronaldo

CM: Scholes

CM: Lampard

LW: Giggs

ST: Shearer

ST: Henry

Pretty Man Utd dominated, but that's to be expected, just glad to see some of our lads in there.

Thoughts?

PS.  Warren Barton said "I love Lampard, but no way he should be in the team ahead of Roy Keane!"

As I can't bring myself to agree with Warren Barton, I'll suggest that Keane should be in ahead of Scholes.

Otherwise that's a pretty good lineup - surprisingly so, given Fox Soccer.

Honestly:

-------------------- Van Der Sar

--Neville---------Adams----Vidic----------Cole

C.Ronaldo-------Scholes---Vieira----------Pires---

-----------------Henry----Van Nistelrooy----------

No Lampard?!

Of course it is very subjective, but I think they got the team pretty much spot on.

As much as we love Zola, who would he replace?

I'm just glad Stevie Me isn't in there

I'd probably agree with that team, however i'd replace that camel looking c**t Rio with Tony Adams.

Also in practice you probably wouldn't want both Lampard and Scholes in the centre, need either Keane or Viera to balance it out (in place of Scholes of course).

Well, if you're looking for the strongest lineup I'd probably drop Shearer for Keane and go 4-3-3, but Shearer seems almost mandatory - he was the dominant striker of the league's first decade.

Pretty decent, but it *spit* needs more Arsenal players.

Adams and Campbell for starters were better defenders than Ferdinand. There was a time were Sol Campbell was unquestionably the standout defneder in this league. Vieira is also a must.

For all Keane's bluster, United teams were defined by their attacking ability and Scholes, Giggs and later Ronaldo symbolised that dominance.

I think Terry and Lampard belong there too, symbolising the rise of Chelsea in the 2000s.

There are a whole bunch of players who would just miss out on this XI. These are your Le Tissiers, Zolas, Bergkamps and Fowlers; Drogba, van Nistelrooy, Makelele and from more recent times Mata, Fabregas or Bale. All are iconic players of the Premier League and heroes to their clubs but not with quite the same consistency or dominance as the ones i'd pick in that XI, who seem to represent a generation of dominance.

I'll try a second one using the same formation.

GK: van Der Sar

RB: Dixon

CB: Campbell

CB: Stam

LB: Winterburn

RW: Beckham

CM: Keane

CM: Vieira/Gerrard

LW: Overmars

ST: Bergkamp

ST: Cantona

                     Cech

Ferreira - Stam - Terry - Cole

Ronaldo - Keane - Lampard - Pires

                Henry - Drogba

Obvious Chelsea bias, Ferreira gets in just because he deserves a mention this week.
