2015/2016 Champions League Seedings

Just read a very misleading article titled: 'Chelsea could face Real Madrid in Champions League group stage after Juventus reach final but Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City benefit'

Looking at the seedings for next years CL as all teams from Pot 1 are domestic champions it is true we could be drawn against Real Madrid in our group. If not we will be drawn against Valencia, Porto , Bayer Leverkusen or Atletico from pot 2

Alternatively, United (who will have to compete in a play off before the draw), Man City and Arsenal who have benefited from being in pot 2 will be drawn in a group with either Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Juventus and PSG from pot 2

I still cannot recognise how United, Arsenal and City have benefited from being in pot 2 but hopefully someone can enlighten me?

And for those wondering why I have failed to mention Liverpool in the potential Champions League draw for next season  the answer is simple, they were rubbish this season and embarrassed themselves in Europe failing to beat both Basel and Ludogrets and then being knocked out the Europa League by Besiktas.

My early prediction for Liverpool's European draw for next season is that they may have to play Metalurg Skopje of Macedonia in a preliminary round

They probably want to attract readers/clicks with sensational headlines like that.

In any case, next season's group stage should be as interesting as ever, the last time we had a top tier European team in the group stages was probably Juve a few years ago.

f**k it, bring 'em on.

I'd happily play Madrid in the group stage, we're good enough to qualify from the group stages with big opposition in our group.

Indeed, if we want to win the thing we'd have to face them some time. They haven't had a recent experience of European nights at the Bridge.

True, the English clubs in Pot 2 will probably get a tougher draw than us, but I wouldn't say that's a bad thing.

I'd much rather us be in a "group of death" than an easier group, makes it all the more exciting. Madrid would be a great group stage opponent.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Chelsea has never lost to Real Madrid in a competitive match.

Yep, already beaten them in a European final. With have the squad having hangovers.
