I have to say I think it's a dead cert too sadly.

I think Jose is trying his best to make something positive out of a real sh*tty situation but I think we all know Roman will no doubt let the sale happen.

Like the Rooney situation at United in Jose's first season I just don't see Arsenal parting with a player they clearly have plans for. They are in the situation where they know Cech wants to leave for first team football, wants to stay in England and his contract is running out so they can smell blood.

Arsenal see us obviously as their main opposition for the title next season so the last thing they will want to do is strengthen us and they are in the situation where the lad isn’t looking to leave and has years to run on his contract so they just don’t require to sell him.

What ‘May’ help the situation is if other clubs start to get involved in the race to sign Petr but so far it’s just Arsenal we are hearing about and all the noises coming from Cech’s camp are all pointing to him staying in London with Arsenal being his preferred option.

I’d love to get the Ox or Walcott from them but I think it’s just bluster with no substance to it ever really happening.

Sadly have to agree,  it  seems arsenal hold all the cards. The only play we can make is tell cech to pick another club or see out his contract. Which by the way I am pro doing. Think about how much it will cost arsenal to get a keeper of chech quality else where.

But I don't see what cards Arsenal hold except the fact Cech wants to go there.  I really don't think we should let them have him if they won't give us anyone in return.

Think it's that he can move the season after next for nothing and we wont get the cash and also the club not wanting to alienate a legend.

We are caught between a rock and a hard place, our only hope is Cech realises the fans would be heartbroken if he moved there and chooses another top club in Europe.

Sadly I don't see that happening.

Likelihood is though that this is Abramovich's decision, and isn't Jose's call. I've heard and read from a multitude of sources that Abramovich has a gentleman's agreement with Cech to let him go where he pleases. May well be bullsh*t, but doubt that Mourinho has the final say on this.

I'm coming down on the side of "why should we not want to alienate him if he doesn't care about alienating the fans" camp.  Harsh maybe and idealistic but loyalty should work both ways.  I know he was fantastic last year not moaning etc.  But......Arsenal!  Come on, Pete, not there.

Well that's the side of the fence I have been on.

I think we as a club are more important than any 1 player and we should look after number 1.

I hate selling to clubs in the same division never mind direct rivals in the same City! I honestly thought Cech wouldn't move to a rival but now I think he 100% would.

Firstly, I don't believe he's alienating the fans. The vast majority that I know don't want him to go, but understand the point about family.

Secondly, from what I've heard it was a gentlemen's agreement last summer that basically said that if he gave us last season then we'd allow him to go and I don't think there's a single supporter who if you gave them that option last year would've objected to it.

Finally though, where would you be happy with him going? Personally I'd prefer United but the main alternative seems to be PSG. But if he wants to stay in London with his young family who were if not born here, definitely raised here, have friends here, have schools here etc. then is it really fair to object? Putting football aside and pretending for a moment that Petr is a human with all those things humans have in their adult lives, isn't it understandable that he'd want to stay? And isn't that exactly why the supporters wouldn't feel 'alienated'?

I know what you're saying is all very logical but I don't care - I'm being illogical and I don't want him to go there and yes, I do think loyalty ought to be part of his consideration as well.

Where would I be happy for him to go?  Almost anywhere but Arsenal and Liverpool.

It's ok to have a different opinion Beerqueen.

Some don't like that but meh to them!

Is it a done deal yet BQ ? I'm struggling to keep up!

Don't think so but I haven't dared look!  I'm sure if I can ignore it and convince myself it's all media twaddle it'll go away.

Think that's where I am currently, saving the emotion as perhaps the thought may be worse than the actuality. Here's hoping anyway!

What I'm saying is the opposite of logical. It's based on emotion.

What would be logical is to either sell him overseas or if he won't accept that then to put him in the reserves and either use him as a sub or restrict the amount of football he plays so that he essentially loses a year of competitive football before allowing him to go.

That's logical. That's what you do 'for the club'. What I'm saying is that if we had a gentlemen's agreement last summer, to keep to it...like gentlemen.

If you want to say something to me, then say it to me. Or has the whole Rangers fanbase lost it's bottle? Would explain the club going down the sh*tter.

That's kinda rich considering you consistently list in response to people's responses and slag people off.

Also just because you have a problem with someone doesn't mean they aren't a Chelsea fan or follow another team. Seriously get a f**king grip you're not 12.

But he does. He's a Rangers fan. He uses the word 'we' when talking about them so me saying he's a Rangers fan whilst not the kindest thing to call anybody, isn't inaccurate.

But you're saying it like because he supports Rangers he can't also support Chelsea. It wasn't long ago you were saying I was a Leeds fan when you know I'm not.

Big if.  Who says we did?

Its what I've heard from people I trust and it's been widely reported too.

“And Petr would like to join one of them, definitely. Petr expects that [Chelsea owner Roman] Abramovich, not Mourinho will decide about his future, based on their mutual agreement from last year."

Oh my, cannot believe the quote you responded to! Here we go again I guess, wonder when he'll eventually go out in a Bl(ueD)aze of 'glory'.
